Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer

Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer

I wonder if Corona-Chan killed off the plans for a remake or a new series? Because I know Tatsunoko finially got the rights back like five years ago, but everything has been quiet on their end.
Japan has remade so much complete trash that came out like 5 minutes ago, like Re: Zero, why hasn't there been a remake of Mach a Go Go?
Nobody remembers it I guess.
even got a remix: youtube.com
His brother's theme song is superior.

As a little child of 3 watching this in Cartoon Network I can say with no shadow of a doubt that this show taught me the concept of death.
One of the few anime that have a legitimately good live action adaptation.
Probably the most visually intoxicating movie I have ever seen. It was fucking gorgeous.
I remember downloading some song on limewire back in the day, was something like 'speed racer remix by moby' and it was implied sex between speed and trixie using various voice clips like "oh speed" then it concludes with HERE HE COMES HERE COMES SPEED RACER
I just wanted to share that
Saw it three times at the theater. It was a pretty good spectacle and I dig the weird anime Spy Kids visual comedy.
Remake fags need to rope. Not everything needs a remake. If they did you know all the cars would be CG.
I watched some Speed Racer as a kid but I doubt I got too far into the series. I did just read the manga recently though because I saw it was short and it's really absurd a lot of the time to the point of being comical.
I watched this in theatres but don't really remember much about it. Like another user said though the visuals are what I remember most.
Typical of Japanese cartoons compared to American ones. They don't hold the young audience's hand and actually teach them about hard facts of life like death.
That was actually an Aphex Twin song.

Actually it wasn't him either but who the fuck knows with how p2p was. As long as I wasn't getting that Bill Clinton ad I was happy.
This was a lot of fun to finally see on BD and in Japanese.

Amazing taste. That movie is one of my absolute favourites
They could use the models from the movie...I can't remember if they were made on 3d though...
It feels like Mach a Go Go isn't remembered all that much in Japan. Most likely is due to who owns the rights of it and is there an intention to promote it. You occasionally see ads and products with old characters like Heidi, 009 Cyborg, Astro Boy, etc. So there is an intention of some executives on milking it one more time on some particular titles.
There was a renaissance in the west probably because of MTV and there was an attempt with the movie, but other than that nothing on the east.
Shame Go wasn't in Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
tfw no racing anime without plot armor ever
Also gave what is probably the single best anime parody ever created.

Genndy Tartakovsky and Craig McCrakken basically always found a way to insert Tatsunoko on their cartoons
PPG title cards are even a reference to Gatchaman
>tfw barely any rally anime/manga
Yeah, they're animation nerds who grew up on old anime. Probably why their stuff always came off a lot better because it was all done with love instead of just "haha, anime right".
Ma-ha go!
Go!
Gooooo!
rewatched the remake movie recently and shit it's still pretty good
Absolutely fantastic movie right here. Seeing this on the big screen was one hell of a spectacle.
literal boomer anime
