I've seen plenty of anime after the year 2000 but none of them made me think "That was great, I'll remember this forever". Anime from 2000~ onward are so soulless, especially now everything is animated on computers. The mid to late 90's was the peak.
I've seen plenty of anime after the year 2000 but none of them made me think "That was great...
2010s had some good anime
Most anime, regardless of period, is meh-ish, not really great but not quite bad, but there's been a few gems scattered throughout the 1970s-2010s period.
Have you considered the non negligible probability that maybe you're older now and anime just doesn't resonate with you as much, regardless of the technicalities of animation?
same, i guess, sometimes that slice of life is what you need tho
why do people say stuff like this when it's obviously truly more about the anime than the person posting desu
Why would you say something so fucking idiotic?
I still find old anime from the 90s and enjoy it today.
Why do people post empty posts that have nothing to add or contribute to the thread? Really makes one think desu.
Watch Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Thank me later.
Sounds like you have shit taste.
This, but replace the cutoff of 2000 with 2010.
2010s has had some pretty good stuff.
However, the medium has become stagnant. Instead of taking inspiration from other works, most anime nowadays is derivative of other anime, or anime culture. It's like inbreeding. There's no new blood, no new inspiration. We need to widen the gene pool.
Another problem is that anime and anime culture is now becoming widespread, and so there's more of an incentive to make soulless shows, as somebody will inevitably consume it. Gone are many companies who looked at anime as a labour of love. The budgets are lower, and less effort is put into each show.
Sure, there's been some ok anime the past decade, but has there truly been anything groundbreaking? Has there truly been anything game-changing? I don't think so. I think we have accepted mediocrity.
What do you think user's? Have there been any anime in the past year that have been truly worthy of high praise?
I watched 5 episodes and didn't like it. I don't respect anyone who does like it.
This
There was always a lot of anime that took cues from other anime, like all the old mecha.
There are modern anime that obviously take inspiration from other circles, like ID.
I think it's just a result of there being lots more anime and it being far more readily available.
>evangelionfag thinks he has good taste
sasuga
same
I kind of agree, the only post 2000 anime that is better than Lain and Eva is Haruhi
Haruhi itself completely saves this century, be it the series or the movie. Unironically the greatest anime ever made.
>I watched half of a series and here's my opinion
The absolute state of nu/a/
is it me or is anime after 2000 onward are so soulless
like anime after 2000 u say
"That was great"
but u can never remember them forever.
can u remember a single 2000s anime ?
but try any anime before 2000...u can remember it
i remember a pre 2000 anime
>I've seen plenty of anime after the year 2000 but none of them made me think "That was great, I'll remember this forever".
Watch at least 200 anime before posting. Modern anime is fine.
>soulless
Oh fuck off Zig Forumsermin.
For some reason I drop anime more from before 2000s than I do from 2000 onward, even less so from anime in 2010s
People are able to tell the quality of a show from the first episode, let alone the first half. You only need to watch 5 episodes to get a good grasp of the premise of the show. Typically, you should be able to tell whether you will enjoy a show or not just based off of the first few minutes.
If somebody doesn't like a series, they shouldn't be forced to watch it in its entirety. That's stupid.
I was commenting on the "I don't respect anyone who does like it" bit. If you haven't watched it why would your opinion matter?
This is no different from MALdditors making "reviews" about shows after having seen 1 episode.
Anyone basing their respect for other people on which cartoons they like is pretty retarded anyway.
oh man you are right about watching the first few episodes and knowing if it's any good but if you do that do you seriously think your opinion on the subject as a whole would be valid? that's like you tasting a cake by it's icing and not by taking a slice! yeah you didn't like it but who are you to have any say on the cake as a whole?
>but if you do that do you seriously think your opinion on the subject as a whole would be valid?
Yes, I do.
If something is so bad I can't even finish it that's an opinion on the whole product. I'm not finishing every bad show just to satisfy your autism about whether I'm allowed to criticise it or not. You just want to be a little bitch and flat out dismiss criticism from people for arbitrary reasons.
>that's like you tasting a cake by it's icing and not by taking a slice!
No that's like eating a slice of cake, but not the whole cake, and giving your opinion on the cake.
>However, the medium has become stagnant. Instead of taking inspiration from other works, most anime nowadays is derivative of other anime, or anime culture. It's like inbreeding. There's no new blood, no new inspiration. We need to widen the gene pool.
Christ, this. The fear of being polluted by non-otaku culture has really damaged anime.
>You not having seen the show
>Arbitrary reason
I'm thinking you're the one being a little bitch by insisting that your opinion matters (which wouldn't be true even had you seen the show) because you want attention.
I have seen the show. 5 episodes is almost 2 hours. 2 hours is more than enough to know if you like something and why and if you don't like it and why not.
I don't have to see the whole show to make up my mind on it, if I don't like the first half I'm not gonna like it if I force myself through the second half, so it's safe to say the second half is as bad as the first.
Just stop being a little faggot and coming up with excuses to not even counter criticism of people not liking what you like. You're arguing like a woman.
When I was young shonen was my world.
Eventually I stopped being interested on shonen and while a lot of shonen has aired during the past years (even a new Dragon Ball series) I didn't bother with it.
So yeah, age makes your tastes change. Finding all of the pre-2000 good and all the post-2000 bad is just a mix of growing out of anime and nostalgia bias.
feel the same, just started watching escaflowne again and it is still great.
I don't think you're watching the right stuff OP. Some of the ones that really resonated with me were things like Gurren Lagaan or Space Dandy.
Even shit like Death Note was genuinely enjoyable
I don't give a shit if you liked it or not retard. I'm saying your opinion objectively doesn't matter because you haven't seen the show. I've never read Fire Punch but i dislike it because of the meme face spam. But it's completely irrelevant to how good the manga actually is, as that's just how i feel about it. Same goes for you and Madoka.
You guys haven't realized that OP is baiting for recommendations.
OP hasn't realized that he won't like any recommendations we may give him because he's a firm believer on the "OLD GOOD NEW BAD" mantra.
>I'm saying your opinion objectively doesn't matter
Your opinion objectively doesn't matter because it's objectively wrong. See how retarded that argument is?
