It's a plot device that ruins a lot of the tension in the story. Akira won't have any type of competition until he fights another human with AI support because Alpha will spoonfeed him everything on what to do.

I actually went back and re-read the early chapters in the book and the web, there's actually no point that mention she's a virgin (that was somehow my understanding too for some reason).

That's false tension. You know he's going to get through everything unscathed. When (if) Alpha turns evil and leaves him for good, THEN you can start talking about stakes and tension.

But Alpha does leave, she made that clear early on. He needs to be able to do everything without her help.

Call me pedantic, but there's a difference between OP and advantage. Alpha is to bridge a gap so he can get to current level rather than just crush everything along the way.

The thing is Alpha is already an overwhelming advantage to the point of being OP. She's augmenting him physically like putting that scope shit in his eyes.

The thing is the "augment" is barely allowing him to fight against Alpha designated missions (so her worth is more as strategy guide rather than tool). We had tastes where she disappeared (cause jamming) or against opponents where her support is useless because the other side does not even allow time to micro-reactions.

We're still in noob village, so having a level 10 sword seems OP, but there's a cap on Alpha's usefulness that can be easily outgrown. Honestly, I think the most bullshit about this story is "nanomachines" (everything is fucking solved by this, most convenient writing); Alpha being OP I don't think is one of points worth picking on.

He is crushing everything along the way... He's already a legend in the merc community after like 3 chapters.

But it's so early on in the story, the story's really really long (equivalent of 20+ volumes) and we are only in volume 1 in the manga.

I mean we've gotten to the point by wn chapter 30+ where having his mere presence can cause room for negotiation between large organised crime syndicates. The only way up from here is against elite hunters and soldiers from the elite part of the city.

Those people are still in the slums. The rank is like 20-30. Elite hunters in the city are around rank 40s and still weak as hell in the grand scheme of the overall main plot ("rebuild vs. anti-rebuild"). I think context is important. Alpha is OP against trash, but nobody would call someone who can kill 40 ants overpowered.
