Hayate no Gotoku

I can't believe it has been 15 years already.
What did Zig Forums think about it?

The best harem-romcom.

Hina a best
Ruka a second-best
Nagi a third-best

For me, its Izumi

I'm still mad.

Why are you mad user?

Probably because Hina lost.

I started watching it recently and it's a lots of fun. The first season opening and ending were by two of favorite anime bands (Kotoko and Mell).
And... Isumi is best!

>Mell
Whatever happened to her?

I stopped following the series right at the final arc, when they were back on the beach in greece.
Something about it just wasn't fun anymore, and solving whatever fucking issue they had with whatever inheritance stone necklace wasn't going to be worth sitting through that goddamn mangaka arc.
I do have fond memories of reading it though. I was a Hinafag, Athenafag, and then just became a Chiharufag after I got tired of the Hayatebowl

Pink girl was cute but thirsty rich loli was best!

Are you reading the sequel?

I am and I love Hata's way of dragging it out.

it was ok

It's just comfy husband and wife shenanigans. There's nothing to drag out.

Time flies by so fast.

It was great until the end of the Greece arc. After that it became a chore to read, as Hata seemed unwilling to accept that his manga had evolved from its original concept, and instead of letting things flow naturally, he tried to forcefully take it back to its roots, and we ended up with old jokes, and rehashed events. Then you also had Doujin Namek, which just killed the manga. And, to top it all, Nagi won, which in any other series wouldn't have been a problem, but she and Hayate had never been romantically developed, and their whole thing was always family-like, so what should have been an Athena win or a Hinagiku win, or even a Maria win, ended up being an unnecessary main girl victory, when even an Izumi win would have made more sense.

Everything about it became so bad since Doujin Namek all the way to the end, that I've never had even the slightest curiosity about Tonikaku Kawaii.

Read a few chapters. It's better than Hayate ever was.

what was Doujin Namek?

After a certain arc I forget, Nagi decides to move the hell out of her mansion and live it up in an apartment and runs into Ruka, an idol but also an otaku who likes drawing manga. The two compete to whose manga gets accepted or finished first, I forget.
It was boring. Ruka basically disappears after Hayate turns down her confession and Nagi hardly grows as a person

>15 years
WHAT THE FUCKING WHAT

user you forgot already?
it started around late 2004

The Nagi end was also done in the most trollish way possible.
Hinagiku declares she is going to confess, goes to Hayate...and then it cuts away to a 2 year timeskip where Hayate meets Nagi again and they just decide to get together. End.

Yeah, that the same issue I have with Nagi winning. Like even Nagi move pass her crush at that point. There no reason for them to end up together.

Wow I didn't even stick around toward the ending and I'm mad about hearing how it actually ended.
What the fuck

>After a certain arc I forget, Nagi decides to move the hell out of her mansion
It was after the Greece arc, and Nagi didn't jiust decide to move, remember by that the end of the Greece arc, in order to help Hayate she gave her jewel to him, which meant she lost her chance at any inheritance, and thus was kicked out of the mansion by her grandfather.
However, even if she lost her inheritance, money was never an issue since she was a financial genius and the money just followed her. So, the whole development ended up as little more than a temporary chance in setting.

I feel like Hata had gotten very tired of the series by that point and wanted to fuck with the readers a little. Or maybe he had planned it from the beginning, got distracted in the middle, then just went "fuck it" at the end.

I'm only mildly annoyed at Hina not winning. I'm pissed that Nagi, worst girl in the whole series, won.

>wanted to fuck with the readers a little
That's a gross understatement. He had Nagi decide to move on, have Hina declare her feelings for Hayate, and right afterwards we get a timeskip with Hayate and Nagi being together.
That's not even trolling, that's outright figuratively spiting on (what's left) of your readers.

The season 1 anime going off and being wackier by doing its own thing was probably the peak this whole series had.

A-tan had the best arc.

Fuck you user I liked it.
