That's not a critique on Orochimaru, that's a compliment. He's the only motherfucker strong enough to know that Itachi's plot armour is going to fail against Sasuke and so he attempts to subvert the usual plotfaggotry by in essence "becoming Sasuke Uchiha".

The fact he got away with everything at the end tells you that Orochimaru's games are on another entire level.

Kind of creepy how Sasuke seems to have no emotional reaction to killing the only person he's been socialized with over the past two years. Even Orochimaru seems to care about him on some level.
