Is it me or is the Quintessential Quintuplets a.k.a Gotiubun no Hanayome anime just so much more entertaining than Kaguya-sama: Love is War? Don't get me wrong, I get why Kaguya has way more popularity since it has such a great source and the staff for the show showing their effort, talent, and love for the series every episode... but there's just something about Quintuplets that has this extra level of charm that I think blows Kaguya-sama out of the water.
The level of detail that they leave out somehow makes for a more imaginative experience for me. I think the animation lacking in areas and the art being off is actually a strong positive for the viewing experience because it induces an extra level of scrutiny but also enjoyment in noticing little details and relaxing the viewer into expecting less, therefore leaving them pleasantly surprised by the superb story and voice acting. The problem with Kaguya-sama is that it lacks this level of awareness and intelligence; it focuses on serving the audience directly without making them think or work for the animation and art they want in their heads, instead they just give the viewer what they want to see.
In short, I think what I'm trying to say is: good animation, art, voice acting, direction, soundtrack, storyboarding, and level of effort and talent of the staff can only go so far until you hit a wall. If you want to truly be enjoyable and superior to the rest of the anime in a season, you need to think ahead and be unique like what Quintuplets is doing. Thanks for reading, hope this makes sense!
Nah lad, I'm a 5toubunchad all the way but Kaguya anime is way more fun. The anime actually exalts the good parts of Kaguya. Also tl:dr

FUCK Nino and Miko
Xavier Clark
Maybe I dunno
Isaiah Cruz
I dropped Kaguya because the comedy got repetitive for me. The same narrator at the beginning of the episode and the whole comedy around two characters liking each other but not knowing got boring for me. Felt like a huge cock tease and I don't like it one bit.
Jason Allen
Miko a fucking shit
Eli Martinez
You should pick it up again, what you said can be applied only to the first episodes
Eli Ramirez
this some low quality bait
Austin Hughes
>but not knowing But they know, that's why they do that.
Jace Reed
>this anime is better because it's so bad that it makes you imagine a better one on your head
This is either a really good falseflag or you are genuinely retarded
Joseph Lewis
>Is it me or Considering Toubun completely destroyed Kaguya in sales, no, it's not only you.
Andrew Wilson
If you like harem, you probably have a mental disability.
Adrian Roberts
>2020 >Still counting BD sales
Toubun has VA tickets of 5 Popular seiyuu while Kaguya none.
And most of nips already move to PC/Streamming site instead using regular BD/DVD disk to watch anime.
Owen Gutierrez
Kaguya is a lot funnier and a lot better written. QQ is honestly a guilty pleasure type show while Kaguya is legit a good RomCom.
William Diaz
They're not directly comparable; one is a romance and another is a comedy.
Toubunfag here, while I do agree that the first part of toubun is better than Kaguya, after that it became boring as reading a newspaper. I remembered binge reading until sister war then the rush just stopped. You might say toubun>kaguya because you are anime-only, and you are still at season 1 but once you read the manga (around season 3), you will definitely agree that Kaguya>>Toubun. FYI, I read toubun first before I read Kaguya in case if you think I’m biased.
How can you be so based and honest at the same time? I'm a Kaguyafag and I thought the first part of Toubun was boring, but I liked the premise. Also having the quints swap with each other was a genius idea and I like the ending. Kaguya>>>Toubun (but I have a great respect for it)
Adam Gutierrez
This user speaks truth. 5toubun definitely degrades in quality as the series progresses. I liked the ending because my girl "won", but it was rushed as hell and the last chapters were infuriating desu. There were quite a few complaints about poor foreshadowing and development in the final few arcs, so I don't think I'm alone in this opinion.
Kaguya didn't really hit it's stride from a narrative point of view until ~45 chapters in, if that's what you're looking for. The character development beyond that is really solid (and I think the comedy in the latter chapters is better too).
Robert Powell
No, Quints is a harem, so its just and endless stroke of teasing of different characters without putting any actual development in the plot until those last chapters hit. Haremshit will allways be haremshit no matter how you look at it, even though it can be entertaining. there's also nothing wrong with giving the viewers what they want, I think subverting expectations for the sake of being "genius writing" is worse.
I don't think that quints is that unique at all? 5 best girls and the selfinsert hardworking but poor MC is already done, while I haven't seen any plot with two tsunderes trying to overpower each other and and a fun supporting cast to guide the MC's
I had a dream I was added to fuutarous harem harem last night.
Aiden Thompson
>100k more followers on anime twitter >300k more followers on their individual twitters >far more fanart >far more sales They're both shit, but 5toubun is the more popular shit between the two.
Alexander Adams
This isn't a hot take, this is more of a popular take.
Isaac Ward
>unique >ecchi harem w. self-insert protag
Hunter Carter
Kill yourself toubunfag, nobody with a brain will ever actually entertain your retarded forced "fanbase war".
Elijah Thomas
>people are really falling for such an obvious bait OP I can't believe the amount of newfaggotry here.
John Lopez
>Colorful girls whose design are based on their own personalities and interactions. vs >The same doujin bait big titty bimbo repeated five times. Look at the fanart and how much of it is lewd and you'll have your answer. Negi wasn't even trying to hide who wanted as customer base.
Juan Moore
I agree with this user.
Aiden Jones
>The same doujin bait big titty bimbo repeated five times. God I love 5toubun oh fuck time to cum to quints again
Nathan Butler
It's you. Anyone that thinks Quints is remotely funny despite being labeled a comedy is a fucking child.
Josiah Williams
I like how no one actually read the copypasta It's such a good one, too, it's intricate
Oliver Baker
No one in this thread read past the first paragraph so no one here realized that it's a huge shitpost against Toubun. Bait is too easy nowadays.
Benjamin Reed
So I've never read Toubun, how on Earth did it manage to get away with using one design for five main characters? Did the author pick the most attractive fap bait or what?
