Why are Japs such pussies? The LN was great but why no glorious sex scene at the end? Why do they always blue ball is? Even in shitty western media like Nicholas Sparks there’s a sex usually. Why do I have to resort to h doujins?

Because they anticipated the coming of Wagashi. Some say the man learned to draw Taiga based on the anime design specifically for this purpose.

I actually read the strip after the t.v. series; I'm left to assume the strip is closer to the source than the t.v. series; it's very different.

The t.v. series is fucking shit compared to the strip; they turned Ryuuzi into a complete self-insert; they even made his visual design uglier because the target audience of male self-inserters would feel threatened by a somewhat handsome male lead or something. He actually feels like a character in the strip with opinions, and he barks back at Taiga. In the t.v. series he's such a boring ring along who always has this “I have no opinions on anything” expression on his face; they say he looks scary as an informed trait, but rather he just looks bored and empty.

Usually they're self-inserts in the source too — it was just a weird surprise to me that apparently he isn't in the source.
And sometimes they're not in the adaptation either.

I agree they do a poor job of making Ryuji look "scary" in the anime, but I'm not sure if Ryuji really works as the kind of pretty boy he is in the manga. If he was really good-looking then his supposed "looks that strike fear in everybody" would be even less believable. The girls of Toradora become attracted to him when they discover his overly caring personality and his industriousness. None of them really care for him at all at first glance. As far as I remember he's not called handsome in the LN either.

I vaguely understand why toradora is important and all but I still haven't watched it. It's like ranma 1/2 or love hina to me, something important I still haven't seen.

Well yeah, I agree it's pretty silly. In the strip too, that Ryuuzi is supposedly scary is only mentioned at the start and after that most others find him easy to approach.
It's just silly how much they removed all of his character traits and opinions, and made him look so bored and boring for the sake of self-insertion — must be frustrating for the auctor.
