Was there really any reason to slap him? He could have just as easily answered
>"No, Griffith. I will not dream your dream."
and walked away with it no issue. Instead he had to make a pointlessly dramatic scene and would have gotten killed leaving his sister all alone in the world if he didn't get miraculously saved by silat just because he let his emotions get the better of him.
Berserk
...yes
Yes, faggot.
It did nothing. Rickerts words later clearly affected Griffith more than his slap did.
doesn't matter if it did nothing Rickert wanted to slap him for the shit he done
Rickert literally showed Griffith he wasn't some untouchable being everyone will follow and rejected him along with the courage to fucking slap a literal god.
Yes. Fucker shouldn't have mentioned the Hill of Swords.
You always slap a hoe, doesn't matter if is unnecessary, it's a natural law
Yeah and I'm saying it was dumb and contrived.
Rickert didn't need to slap him to prove his point.
The most noteworthy aspect of the scene was that it was RICKERT who told him off. Guts stated that even with all that happened he wouldn't be able to hate Griffith which is what Griffith would have known as well. Griffith despite saying muh no humanity was being needy and wanted approval from Rickert as the last remaining remnant of the Band of the Hawk. He wanted him to basically justify what he did by joining him.
Rickert pulling out that old band of hawk insignia and saying it's design while being pretty similar was still different was more powerful than the slap, which was pointless narratively and in-story.
>>"No, Griffith. I will not dream your dream."
Christ, what an extremely awkward and corny line to come up with. I shudder to think of you writing fan fiction.
Still butthurt about the slap, Griffith?
And Erica is not his sister by the way.
Bitch tried to take his fucking bag.
I don't get Bagserk.
That was literally his question
I mean he more or less treats her like his sister and I doubt she'll become a romantic interest for him later on
The proper response to "Will you X" is not "No, I will not X", that sounds super robotic and out of character for someone who would not speak in prose like pretty boy with silver hair.
Where the fuck is mr storytime?
the real question is, if everything is already decided by fate, did griffith knew rickert would reject him? if he did why did he ask?
What's not to get, the man likes his bags.
>the real question is, if everything is already decided by fate did griffith knew rickert would reject him?
I doubt it. In Ch. 88 the Godhand talk about Skull Knight saving Guts/Casca being part of fate and Slan directly says that they don't know everything as they're not actually god.
Personally I don't think Griffith knew either. This is the second time he's ever been rejected in the series and by someone who once so heavily admired him too.
why the fuck i start read this? i can't fucking handle it
how about this then, we know his luck/fate are good enough to dodge arrows without even trying or anticipate skull knight's attacks, then did he accept the slap on purpose? if so why? guilt? if he didnt do it on purpose does that mean that griffith can actually be surprise attacked?
he killed most of his friends, made one retarded and made another have to suffer the weight of it all. while also having the gall to make a new band and ask him to join as if nothing happened. he deserved that slap.
> any reason to slap him
If anything he didn't do enough
Griffith is such a massive bitch for even attempting to get Rickert to join him. Glad he refused, he can keep his soulless dream.
There was no point in dodging it to begin with, Rickert to Griffith is literally the same as an ant to a person. I suppose he just wanted to hear what he had to say but I think the act of actually slapping him took him by surprise.

>slap was pointless narratively and in story
it was rickert letting out his frustration for what he did you retard the guy killed his family then asked him to join again like he's some dumbass. since griffith's rebirth he hasnt once been dealt a blow and the one to finally do it was rickert. it was satisfying both in universe and to fans.
In half an hour if we stick in the same time as yesteday.
spoilers: guts cuts stuff in half, everyone says SUGOI GUTS, also puck doing comedic relief in the background
there, you have every berserk chapter spoiled
I would argue that the slap is important due to Griffith being touched in the first place. Weapons could not even have physical contact with his body. He was never harmed post-reincarnation until this very moment. A slap is not a large wound, but it shows that Griffith is not "untouchable." It also sprung some theories on how Griffith could be harmed and defeated via pure will and intent despite being a god.
People cried about him going too early and now they cry about him dumping too late. You can always go to the archive and read the thread if you miss it.
What happened to today's storytime?
You forgot the most important thing, sexual assault.
archive is shit. he does for yous anyway
it's there, calm down
That slap was a way to remind Grifisu that he killed Rickerto's comrades.
How could he, Rickerto, mingle with the likes of Grifisu, knowing that he sacrificed the band of the hawk, Rickerto himself was a hawk, he knows that if he was present during the eclipse, he too would have been raped.
>That Locus
Well gee, user. Is there a reason to assault anyone who actively murdered all your friends?
Glad we can all be as logical and analytic as you. Jesus christ what a cold story that would be.
