Just finished this series. Strong art, the characters were good apropos of the nothing, but I felt the anime suffered from a weak and rushed story. Salts development as Cocona's father was by far the worst part of the story. Felt extremely underwhelming and seemed to have no fulfilling catharsis. Did he even hug/speak to her after confronting Mimi? The saving grace of this anime was the art direction. Still a good anime though. What do you anons think?
Flip Flappers
Common consensus is that it's a wonderful looking show that really looses steam when it focuses in on the plot in the last few episodes. But the episodic adventure episodes are fucking brilliant.
What was your favorite episode OP? Mine was when they looked into art-senpai's memories.
Art-senpai's memory episode was perhaps one of the best in the series, especially its emotional appeal. Though two of my favorite episodes are the second one (which stands out to me due to the art) and the one where time repeats (to me it's able to capture the foreign horror of pure illusion better than any episode).
You missed the point with Salt. That was intentional and very smart on the writers.
>I felt the anime suffered from a weak and rushed story.
Yeah, you could really feel that writer change.
I wouldn't say that. The only thing that really needed to change was cutting the 3rd clone, explore the ramifications of the hell torii a bit more, and introduce Cocona's mom a few episodes earlier.
Maybe add a few more episodes of the kids fucking around in different worlds too.
Stupid sexy Cocona!
>That was intentional and very smart on the writers.
Not OP, but can you elaborate?
What was the point then? Any intention they had is hindered by the setup, which would then disqualify it as smart. Cocona was setup as a young girl without a family, believing them to be dead, who wanted to see them again. Unbeknownst to her, she is very close to her family, interacting with her mother and father while she explores pure Illusion. At the climax of the story she is able to meet her mother and spend time with her. We actually see the mother-daughter relationship. We have fulfillment, a resolution. But we never have that with Salt. Never a father-daughter moment. He doesn't even apologies to her for his sins, which would fit with his character. We get nothing. If they wanted to exclude the father and have a pure mother-daughter dynamic, they shouldn't have developed him as much. If they were trying to achieve an ending where Cocona is now at peace with the passing of her parents, they failed to give him and Cocona any resolution. Salt only interacts with Mimi, barely acknowledging teenage Cocona.

It's because Salt literally isn't important to the story just like Asclepius but I don't see you complaining about them.
Listen, it's 2 and I gotta get up for work but read up on hyperart and you'll see how it fits into the show.
Kek. Claiming Salt is a piece of Hyperart Thomasson is pure cope. It's bad writing plain and simple. Justify it with your post-modern garbage all you want and think yourself intelligent, but in reality, you’re an idiot. As a part of the story, functionally, Salt is literally the catalyst for Cocona going to pure illusion. He maintains the organization that utilizes Papika. As a character his motivations are to help his daughter and meet Mimi again. Both of which he achieves, in a way. He even serves an integral part in the final confrontation. A piece of Hyperart Thomasson is a relic without any use, it can be removed and the function of something wouldn’t be hindered. The same can't be said of Salt, he’s a main facet of the story both functionally and thematically.
>just like Asclepius but I don't see you complaining about them.
Have many complaints about them as I said the story is weak but Salt’s conclusion is the most egregious. He’s literally the father of the girl who wants to meet her parents. You're just a retard who likes moving goalposts.
Not him obviously but thanks for gifting me a smile for this Friday, usually people don't spend this much effort on Zig Forums to entertain others.
Why was Papika young when she was actually old?
Shit went down man.
this could have been AOTD if it wasn't for the plot
I for one like the overall plot and don't believe in any writers meme shit.
The point of Coconas development is to free herself of the clutches of her overbearing mother. Cocona becoming a daddy's girl afterwards would throw wrenches in that development. Other series might have killed him off for that not to happen. Although I would still like to see how they interact afterwards.
didnt they change the writer half way through?
They did change one writer halfway through who mostly was responsible for the dialog, but the entire plot and the scenes were all finished before. The writer change meme is a meme.
The only thing that drastically changed was episode 8, if I remember correctly, which was supposed to be a zombie episode first
>The writer change meme is a meme.
it sure felt like it
>i-it's just a meme!
Kek, no, it isn't. The writer of the last 6 episodes of FliFla then went on to write the abomination that was BLACKFOX, in case anyone needed proof of his complete hackery.
By the way, he's also the writer of the Higurashi remake, so good luck with that too.
What a great show easy 10/10 for me
>Ok studio, how about we make a yuri evangelion
>but sir, Madoka does much better than that already
>how about we make it worse?
>Great!
that must be how it went down
Blackfox was good. Expectations were just too high.
>Blackfox was good
The only good things in Blackfox are Mia's thick thighs and Lily's faces
>Mia's thick thighs and Lily's faces
Those are good things indeed.
