I never understood why at the start of the series she would call herself by the name of the Witch of Envy when asked for a name by Subaru.
She has no reason to think that he wouldn't know the name and to a normal person, it would be almost heretical and basically just Emilia telling them to fuck off which is fine and all but at that point Subaru had been nothing but helpful and she would have to accept him running around calling her Satella which would cause concern in public if anyone heard.
