24-26 isn't nearly enough without rushing many things. Part of the appeal is the build up and long-term attachment to characters so cutting away Extra and Unlimited is already a risky proposition, flashbacks will not cut it. If it wants to be a good adaptation it would have to be an old school 50 episode series.

But then there is another problem. When series included mecha, viewer expect some action. Normally this happen once every 3-4 episode, it should show some big battle. Early chapter just training and simulator. Then we got coup with decent battle.
