Random thought: Kuroko’s Basketball is HEAVILY slept on in today’s anime community, the only sports anime that’s talked about is Haikyuu. KNB has a goated cast with great character progression, incredible matches, and is actually funny. Peep it if you haven’t, you won’t regret.

I tried it. I found it dumb.
Haikyuu's only real selling point was the animation, and even that wasn't enough when they were dragging the matches out more and more.
In my experience only women talk about this show, making me realize that is another fujobait shit like PoT but with a sport I dont actually like
I prefer Slam Dunk, not trying to compare the 2 of them because they're clearly going for different approaches. I'm not really a fan of superpowers on sports, I disliked most of the main team especially the red haired one and it did have way too much gay undertones. I suppose I'm not the audience for this show
Is Zig Forums just Twitter copy pasting these days?
whoa who would think a show that aired years ago wouldn't have any threads to discuss it? Real big shocker.
Fujoshi.
I feel like Yowamushi Pedal is pretty underrated, I liked it better than Haikyuu, Ace no diamond and Kuroko no basket. Anything else worth getting into thats's similar? Is FREE!! any good?
I don't like anime but the manga is one of my favorites of all time. However, I understand exactly why it's hated so much here so I don't bother bringing it up. It's not really for fans of basketball, it's just a classic Jump battle manga about brotherhood like Hokuto no Ken.
Kuroko ended and HQ took it's spot. Kuroko, while generally liked, didn't become a super mega hit like Slam Dunk so it would obviously fall by the wayside. Similar to what happened with Eyeshield 21
If you actually care about sports anime you would be watching/reading something like Ace of Diamond. Especially manga there is a lot bigger variety of series that you will ever hear about on Zig Forums and among Western fans in general. Not all are even just about the technicalities of the sports, but also great series like Gurazeni or even something more casual and different like Noririn (series that are at least within online reach, if you can read RAWs).
There is a lot of adult manga you will never hear about. The battle shounen sports series is a fujoshi thing.
Kuroko I undestand falling in the shadow of SD, but is Eyeshield overshadow by anything?
Pardon my ignorance but Is there a more popular American Football manga out there?
I meant in the sense that it ended and while it was popular, it wasn't a super mega hit so time eventually passed and less and less people talk about it.
The best ongoing sports manga is Daiya no Ace.
>However, I understand exactly why it's hated so much here
It is? When the anime started yeah but I feel like as the show went on more people liked it. You don't have the nightmare troll threads that used to happen these days either
Oh, I get it
The art (manga and anime-wise) isn't nearly as dynamic as Haikyuu and I found the characters to be a lot less likeable than the HQ cast. There's as much melodrama as you'd expect from a story about high school girls, and the super powers push the story into an awkward inbetween where it's not real-life or fantasy sports. It's okay overall but a bunch of other sports manga have it beat when it comes to art, team dynamics/camaderie, engaging rivals, and interesting matches.
Noririn is still ongoing? I dropped when translation stopped.
>op is a newfag who wasn't here when s1 was airing
KnB ended in 2016 with the final movie in 2017. In a couple of years you be saying the same thing about HQ which it at it's final arc.
Kuroko's Basket is really boring. Dropped it before captain basketball game. The villians aren't interesting, and the character progression is so bad.
>HQ
>Character is short and must overcome this by first trusting his setter, then surpassing his own jumping skill
>Kuroko
>HE CAN PASS GOOD
>THEN KAGAMI ASS PULLS
I agree, I hope we get a new season soon
No, but I mentioned exactly because it has some translation, as does Gurazeni (in the form of the anime).
The problem is a lot of what Zig Forums knows as seinen is not much different in practice than the average shounen or at least has the manga/otaku flavor and/or loldeep. Seinen has a lot bigger variety of material on the market than is generally discussed.
Josei on the other hand is mostly just retarded women dramas. The less drama drama with more feel good relationships also exists, but it is female mumbo jumbo.
The superpowers are dumb.
Gurazeni is great.
Not OP but isn't HQ mostly ignored by the community?
I don't see much fans of it around considering it's also a WSJ series. Could it be the destiny of the majority of sport series to fall ignored?
Pretty sure most of them are only loved for their anime rather than their manga, and they are loved by females
The thing that I always find hilarious is that this dude is seen as one of the weaker players in the generation of miracles, but in reality, he would absolutely fucking break the NBA harder than any of the other players.
You spelt Chihayafuru wrong.
He is a zonelet too.
I don't even watch sports, much less fake sports
Ha-ha. No.
You are missing. I don't watch real sports either, but there is a lot of enjoyment to be found in the anime/manga ones.
Why the glasses dudes in this series play with them on it?
Can't shoot if he doesn't have the ball.
