This was still early in the timeskip. Back then, after that chapter, I was pretty sure that Kishi would make Sakura the love interest and he'd try to make a point of how superficial Sakura's infatuation with Sasuke was, compared to the foundation of trust and familiarity she had with Naruto and that she'd realize it at some point "who was there for her", so to speak. At some point, Kishi decided differently, Sakura apparently was in love with Sasuke, which seems pretty deranged at this point and Naruto was paired up with Hinata, which was also workable. Never understood the point of this chapter, especially with the bait in . Before anyone chimps out, I'm fine with Hinata, but Kishi sent some pretty mixed signals throughout the manga and isn't guilt free from stoking the fires in those retarded shipperwars. Makes you wonder what else he just came up with on the spot, even after the prolongued break before the timeskip to allegedly plan things out.

The fight is terrible, I've no idea what you're talking about. Orochimaru never lands a single attack, it's the equivalent of Danzo using a Kunai against Susanoo over and over. It made everyone look bad.
