I think there's more praise for the show than criticism even in Japan so there's a chance they don't.

Charlotte is in a weird place for me. On one hand I loved the OP and the ED and I still listen to Bravely You fairly frequently. Nao was also a top-tier cutie, and I sort of appreciate that my home country got some focus in the final episode and got one of the longer "going around the world" scenes. On the other hand, the show could have been a lot better, if only it had better pacing and wasted less time. That or it being given more episodes.

Yeah I agree with your there, there were too many plot holes, the romance felt force and out of character, the ending was just too rushed. It could have been way better.
If I hadn't fallen in love with Nao, I would have forgotten about Charlotte already.

SHAFT was able to get by using the same few VA for years

To this day I still don't get why Charlotte got so much praise when it's a deeply-flawed show. Same with Angel Beats honestly.
