Digimon

I just watched all of Xros Wars and god I hated it. But what was even worse is how they treated some of their strongest Digimon like Lillithmon, Lucemon or Omegamon. They were weak as fuck.

Read the manga instead.

Is it really any better?

Yes, but still not good

This is a kids show.

For the last time those were not Demon Lord Lilithmon or Demon Lord Lucemon. There is more than one you know. And no one gives a shit about Omegamon.

Xros Wars was still the better series outside of Tamers with the Digimon being the main focus with their world and their problems and not the human children. And song in the entire franchise originates there.

What kind of autism do you need to give a shit about digimon power levels?

My God, a Digimon thread? Please don't die. I know the show's on hiatus but I've been watching Savers and I just need to talk about it SOMEWHERE.

I heard that the first part of Xros Wars was fine, but it gets bad with the second and third parts. But I have zero experience with it, so I can't say anything for sure.

'its for kids so it doesn't have to be good'

Or "It's for kids and it isn't good so why the fuck are you talking about it?"

Savers has the best villain of any digimon series.

I really enjoyed Xros Wars. Its basically really a Super Robot series with a Digimon skin

People take Digimon power levels way too seriously. The anime has never been consistent with the lore. We've seen multiple of the same species of Digimon across each with wildly different strengths.

So why was most of Yugioh and Pokémon so good then?

Appmon is good and criminally underrated.

Okay, Savers is painful. Every single character is one-dimensional. Masaru is a terrible character. There's novelty in watching him punch Digimon, but he's insufferable. He has no depth whatsoever. He's constantly in a state of agitation and trying to pick fights. He refuses to talk things out. Talking things out like rational people would solve a number of problems, so the writing relies on his hardheaded stupid decisions to keep the drama going. Masaru is only really tolerable when he's given more SoL moments and lines.

Did we REALLY need 10+ episodes of Ikuto/Falcomon/Mercurymon going "Could humans actually be good? Nah, it's black or white" and then being convinced one way while reverting to the other opinion an episode later. Once again, nobody talks it out. Nobody tries to personally connect with Ikuto and explain to him that not all humans are bad. They just drag him around and he has to learn from experience, but once again this is creating drama that could be solved by talking it out.

I'm 36 episodes in. If you're talking about Kurata, he is despicable, probably one of the most unlikable characters in this franchise, more than Neo from V-Tamer at his worse. Hashiba is also awful. This is where things get complex for me. They've made a character that I really hate, and that really nails in that he's a villain among villains. On the other hand, he's cartoonishly evil with no charisma. I get that many of Digimon's villains are Digimon and actual cartoon villains, but there's at least stuff I like about them. I have to give credit to Kurata for being a character that makes me want the heroes to win.

No

Kurata did nothing wrong.

Ranamon is an underrated digifu

Also, the series isn't visually impressive. It looks like a throwaway mid-00s digital anime. While I try to not judge too harshly on style, Sayo Aoi's character designs are really generic in comparison to Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru's designs for the original four series run. The animation is really janky and cheap looking at times, and they use ugly CG backgrounds at DATS. Despite this, there's the occasional episode and sequence that looks like it's animated decently. I hate that the Child level Digimon are huge, it just makes them look like big cheap cartoon mascots.

One of my issues is that outside the movie (which I recently watched), Savers was never released on Blu-ray and is thus stuck at 480p. Not only that, but the audio quality feels kind of bad. I'm not an audiophile, but it doesn't always sound clear. Not only that, but Yoshino's voice actor, Yui Aragaki, had practically no voice work prior to this series. She was in TV dramas and commercials, but her voice acting is incredibly amateurish, though I feel like it does improve as time goes on. The series itself becomes more watchable as it continues, but I feel like that's more because of the plot than it is the writing or characters.

Speaking of plot, there's Belphemon, but I heard that the Seven Great Demon Lords are pretty much just absent apart from the PS2 game. It's bizarre because they seemed to be building them up in the first arc as the seven deadly sins affecting human emotions.

Anyway, V-Tamer came back after nearly 17 years for a crossover chapter with the new Adventure: series. This is surreal to see Taichi meet Taichi, especially since V-Tamer Taichi met anime Daisuke and realized they were from different continuities.

Only good Yu-Gi-Oh is 5D's and maybe the original manga. Pokemon... it's fun but not good but fun.

>Digimon thread
can we do this too pls

I always felt like that was a /vp/ thing. I'm also too inclined to choose a specific evolutionary line as opposed to evolutions that are less visually consistent.

Any of you guys edit Wikimon? This is a bizarre thing to say, but I'm learning all the Digimon by year as I go (just finished up 2006). Anyway, there's this guy

Who seems to be Coredramon (Green)
wikimon.net/Coredramon_(Green)

Its page says it was introduced in 2007, but that card is from April 13, 2006. It seems to be part of the line of Dracomon, an evolutionary line of Digimon that wouldn't be introduced for like a year and a half. Coredramon goes unnamed on the card itself, but I just thought it should be pointed out because I won't join a Wiki for any reason.

It's dead Jim

Is it really going to take the anime coming back? It was so lively before.

Watch Savers

For me, it's Ruki Makino. The best and prettiest girl of the entire franchise. All hail to the Digimon Queen!

>I just watched all of Xros Wars and god I hated it
Reasonable. I don't think it's particularly worse than most other seasons sans Tamers and Savers, but that doesn't mean it's very good, so as an adult it's only natural that you might dislike it.
>But what was even worse is how they treated some of their strongest Digimon like Lillithmon, Lucemon or Omegamon. They were weak as fuck.
This is a dumb point though. First of all, the power levels of the season were obviously not the same as always. But even so: Omegamon wasn't shown being weak at any point. This Lucemon wasn't said to be the Demon Lord or anything, so he didn't need to be the powerhouse from Frontier. Even so, people often underestimate how strong some xroses are supposed to be. X4B and X5 are already Ultimates. Of course a not-that-special Lucemon could lose to them. I could say the same regarding Lilithmon, but even if you took her as the Demon Lord (I don't really think they exist at all in the Xros Wars anime though), she's still alright? Yeah she became comic relief, but at the same time she wasn't really shown as a super jobber or anything. Overall an alright Ultimate.
I'm not talking about Hunters though, that part made no sense whatsoever and deserves to be hated as the worse digimon has to offer after tri.
Yes, it's really good.

I'm trying to understand what people like about Savers. Is it an English dub thing?

why was hunters so hated?

When the shit is Adventure: coming back? Some stuff is starting to air again.
