You can say the same shit about most forms of media. I've been watching anime and reading manga for a long time so maybe I'm just used to its bullshit. But like others are saying a lot of your complaints would be minimized by reading something different rather than whatever the complaints come from. People with very little knowledge of anime almost always lump everything into the same category because they've only been exposed to a small subsection of it.
If you have no actual interest to begin with and look stuff up yourself then I don't have to list you any reason or recommend you shit.

Akira and Berserk immediately shove down your throat who the bad guys are, who the good guys are, and (I'm pretty sure) unnecessary love interests. You are told what to think and the story is so incredibly linear and predictable it feels like it was designed for children with mental disabilities.
Bebop and Champloo, while still suffering from other problems I mentioned (trannies, filler) at least have the decency to present imperfect protagonists, with serious issues that are worked out through the plot. They are not overly pretentious because they don't need to be, actions speak for themselves.
