Gintama

Just got done reading/watching this an Jesus Christ, what a wild ride it was. I don't think they will ever be a series like this ever again. Probably in my top 5 easily. I think it's the only series I've ever gotten into where I don't dislike a single character, even the ones that were supposed to be dislikeable. Also, Gintoki as a protagonist absolutely shits on anyone else from Jump right now.

I want more of it. Will the anime ever return to finish the manga's story?

Stockholm Syndrome: The Series

I want to get into it but I'm not sure if I should stick with the anime or the manga.

Anime is better until ep 265 or whenever Sunrise stops producing it. After that the manga is apparently better, because Bandai Namco sucks at adapting it.

Why did Sunrise lose Gintama anyway?

Probably just wanted to focus more on LL and mecha. Gintama was never a high quality production, but it did have a fuckton of episodes so it was probably a big time and talent sink for them.

So they were basically throwing money away producing it? Damn, I thought it was really popular over there during Sunrise's tenure.

>Avoided it for the longest time cause I thought the chaotic silliness was dumb
>Friends kept making gintama references during our trip to japan
>Finally gave in and decided to try it after coming back
My gawd I wish I watched it sooner

Mutsu best girl.

>Will the anime ever return to finish the manga's story?
Yes.

It was, and still is.
But you know how biz people can be.

Dunno about the money since it is a very popular series and probably sells a lot of manga and merch. But many of the writers have moved on to writing for other comedy series, and writing is imo the thing that suffered the most when Sunrise dropped Gintama. Visuals too sort of, but it didn't matter as much to me.

>But you know how biz people can be.
Assholes?

>writing
Isn't most of the writing just lifted from the manga anyway? It's an adaptation.

It's Gintama, some of the best episodes are filler and even the adapted episodes can have lots of extra dialogue.

>Yato had Kagura
>Dakini had Hedora

There should have been a semi-regular Shinra.

They were kind of in a hurry though, since they had certain plans that they wanted carried out. That's why they skipped so many chapters at first.

>Will the anime ever return to finish the manga's story?
Not after what happened last time, no.

I watched the first 30 or so episodes months ago and loved it. Definitely looking forward to taking the deep dive after I finish RahXephon and Samurai Champloo.

Post your cutest Kaguras.

see if you'd read it as it was released you would have at least disliked the author, that damn gorilla that couldn't end the series when it ended

My all time favorite manga.
Gintoki should have fucked her.
I don't remember chapters getting skipped until they went straight to the Shogun Assassination arc.
The last arc is confirmed to be a movie, though.

>disliked the author
No one like him, especially his editors. All of them hate this lazy bitch

I have too many cute Kaguras.

They seem to have a good relationship with him though.

Kek what a legendary fake-out that was.

I think the gorilla marriage was kind of necessary. The past couple arcs were just way too serious and there was a huge imbalance between serious scenes and comedy scenes. Gintama was originally primarily a comedy, so the gorilla marriage helps to balance things out.

What was the best comedy arc? What was the best serious arc?
