What the fuck have I been telling everyone for months since the Ohma asspull? I've been saying that the Ohma asspull means that stakes and tension are completely gone.
Not only does Ohma's existence invalidate any kind of threat that Purgatory can pose, it also signals Sandwich's fall into crowd pleasing and predictable storytelling.
Since the Ohma asspull, there's definitely been a shift in tone in how Kengan Omega threads proceed. There's always at least one person who asks: What went wrong? The answer always boils down back to that one asspull that destroyed any kind of hype for this franchise.

Ohma was the weakest part of part 1 by a large margin, bringing him back invalidated his "death" which kind of made him likeable in the end for many, now he's back but don't really fit in since we started part 2 with two clear protagonist who suddenly disappear from the story for no real reason. It just feels like they didnt know what to do with them and just erased them from the story.

I loved the focus on character development. Koga felt like a very rare example of an action manga protagonist who wasn't bullshit. He didn't have any extraordinary gifts, he can't just scream his way to victory, he loses and fails all the time, and he's constantly growing and maturing, both in strength and in emotional maturity. He's had more development in 50 chapters than the average shonen protagonist does in like 200-300 chapters. If Ohma was a gary stu, then Koga is the opposite of gary stu.
To a lesser extent, the same of Koga was true with Ryuki. That's why my favorite Ryuki-related moment was not any of his fights, but rather the part after the Akoya fight where he begins to realize his coldbloodedness is setting him down a wrong path.
What will the next chapter bring? Before the Ohma asspull, people would talk about the mystery of the plot and the joy of trying to think of what will happen next and how our characters will change. Now, after the Ohma asspull, the focus is no longer on character development but "HOWEVER"s and general subverting expectations.

Ohma was a pretty strong part of Asura for me. I really liked how the more we learned of him and his past, the more clear his personality became. He didn't change as much in disposition but the fleshing out of his memories still gave him justification as a character which was interesting.
That being said it is still depressing how they did Koga like they did. Omega was going in a really cool direction with the development of Koga and his relationship with Ryuki but now it feels like that was a side-story or a tangent. I honestly would have completely forgotten about him if it wasn't for the Koga memes in every Kengan thread.
