Blue lock

Why is no one talking about this ? It's the perfect mix of sport shonen and power-fantasy and the art is quite good. No international editions, scanlation teams are something like 35 chapters behind because they are not enough to do the work. To be frank i can clearly see it having the I.G treatment and being on top.

>Why is no one talking about this ?
why do you care? as long as you enjoy the series why does that matter? shonen thread on Zig Forums are shit

the premise is super dumb and every single match follows the exact same structure of MC suddenly finding a new formula to btfo everyone. None of the characters are compelling or memorable except for that one guy calling everyone retards. I wouldn't call it bad but it's pretty boring

Because i think it could be nice to discuss it here and bring it a deserved traction.

again shonen threads on Zig Forums are shit and it's not going to get any traction with slow translations, so unless it gets an anime you're out of luck

The pattern is clear-cut of course but by the premise alone you can understand that everything is built to be as enjoyable as possible. The MC loses more than he wins everytime. I don't mind the fuckery as long as you execute it properly and with a purpose (in this case entertain) i don't see the problem.

I don't know what this is about, but it looks cool. Also it being sports shit is probably why people don't talk about it.

I've tried my best to get invested in a sport series that weren't Slam Dunk or Eyeshield but it's so hard.

2018, Japan lost the WC again. A team composed of an executive and a football genius called "EGO" create a facility aimed at creating the best striker Japan will ever see, Blue lock. 300 young players are selected to be part of it and through trials, matches and tests, people are disqualified and only one will remain. The premise is completely unrealistic, the author draw a very, very thin line between reality and fiction within football to create a power-fantasy, the art is fun and impactful and the story goes full spead everytime.

Same reason I dropped Be Blues, because Japanese wanking where high school students has build like dedicated professional player and intense physical regiments.

In reality most of their professional players has body like twink because they only ate rices and onions sauce.

The competent translators were replaced by machine translators.

Japan is so bad at football. The only reason they even manage to qualify for the WC is because AFC is a joke and all the countries in it are even worse then them.

Might start reading this

"He who only has one eye is king in the kingdom of the blind".
You can really see that they lack endurance in the late game, like how they got bashed by Belgium.

Case in point, final 4 minutes of Poland-Japan.

And yet, Japan has qualified anyway.

Ugh don't remind me. What an absolute disgrace.

try Haykyuu

It futbol except the cast is locked in a prison Battle Royale style. And they don't die if the lose, they're just kicked out of the building and have to vow to never play again.

You need to put in the effort to dump the chapters when they come out and hope for the best.
And even then don't expect much because sports threads never thrive on this board unless there's an ongoing anime.

Anime or manga for those two?

Haikyuu is pretty much the premiere sports anime these days. It's very enjoyable. Any particular sports you are into? For example, I watched Yowamushi Pedal because I like cycling.

both for Slamdunk

watch this manly anime

It's pretty good but Zig Forums seems to not like sports manga

only fujos like it now

The sports manga with the most consistent chapter discussions on this board is World Trigger

this translation fucking sucks, you don't keep the original language's sentence structure when you properly translate

why would they make only 1 player? a team is at least 11

This series keeps getting passed around by different scanlators. Looks like the ones who had the best grasp on the English language quit recently.

It's exciting shonen with interesting core theme. But it also edgy power bullshit which pretends to be football. Any bad arc, any bad sequence can break this story.

Only barou is remotely fun, all the other characters are kind of shit.

>have to vow to never play again
I missed that. When was it?

that sounds retard, why toss a promising element like a reality tv show

They're only focusing on improving the qualities of a striker, and they only want a single super-striker on the team.
Or it could all be a lie.

This is the core idea behind the manga. A striker have to embrace his egoistic side to the point where football is no longer a team-oriented game, but a battle of the strongest. Of course it's complete bullshit, but for EGO, this is the best way to create the ultimate striker, by breaking the conventional rules of football. As for the story, it create a perfect excuse for an individualistic writting, proper to shonen and power scaling.
