Designs aren't striking enough. Production value isn't that high. Writing is awfully on the nose. The "fight" scenes are an embarrassment.

Mappa's CGI animation is really bad in this one. Dai Sato packed a 13-episode anime with way too much exposition.
Too many girls around Echo, not enough with their own boys.
The music isn't covers or licensed versions of the actual bands/musicians music, it's just random soundtracks and some really decent EDs.
I love the main characters chemistry, it really is reminiscent of Eureka 7.
I generally enjoy harems, but Echo just having some girls crush on him just feels pointless here because we know Mu is endgame.

And Earless are humans that failed to become players, especially those that are in direct contact with players.

Tower of God is basically Chuunin Exam + Sasuke Retrieval Arc + Soul Society Arc all mashed together in a somewhat unique setting and with a fairly interesting mix of fights. Maybe it's because it's a webcomic, but the eclectic mix of fantasy and sci-fi elements helps keep it original in each arc, even though its fairly easy to predict which shounen cliches are going to be at the heart of the next story. It's also got some really interesting relationships between some of its characters.
At the very least, it's worlds better than Black Clover, Seven Deadly Sins, or Fire Force.
