Who was in the right?

Light for a bit until he got a god complex. Since then it just became Asshole vs. Asshole.

If you’re not a 14 year old, the answer is L.

Light is a tragic hero, you just KNOW he would have took care of all of those rioters in America...

My mama

Neither but Light was much more of a faggot.

According to your pic it's L

I'd be more impressed if he took care of you election Zig Forums faggots.

I like L more but agree with Light. Murderers and rapists should all die and not burden the taxpayer.

There's no real conflict between them. They are both guardians of the status quo. Both are seeking to protect the same set of mores. Light has delusions of grandeur and seeks to replace the machinery of states designed to maintain order, while L understands that Light's actions are nothing but a threat to the ideals that Light wants to embody.

L. You know the one not going around murdering people.

Killing another human being when your life is not threatened is morally wrong. End of story.

Light, he made a world without crime were innocents do not have to fear

The problem with that is that Light's decisions are based off whoever convicted, but convictions are found to be wrong and overturned every day.

This. Id rather 10 guilty go free, than ONE innocent be found guilty. No crime deserves death. Labor, and imprisonment yes, death no. No abortion, no death penalty.
Until you are falsely accused of rape, and put in jail for a few decades, before oopsies, we had dna evidence that proves your innocent.

other way around. all the little emo teens like L.

LIght until he became a Psycho

A fetus isn't a person and I would rather rape babies not be forced to live being hated and treated like shit their whole lives.

Only 15 year old moralfaggots say L
t.nigger

kill yourself lmao

>innocent people try to stop Light
>he kills them when he can
???

>Id rather 10 guilty go free, than ONE innocent be found guilty
So you want a crime-riddled society.

Would you rather be one of the people put to death for a false conviction?

Of course he does, there's almost a 100% chance he's in America or Yurop

Its an expression. But the injustice of imprisoning an innocent is very high for me. It is more a matter of evaluating the justice system. The burden of proof to convict needs to be high enough that false positives are all but eliminated. Criminals who get one chance to get off will either reform, or relapse, and will likely get convicted. This as opposed to having a burden of proof so low that innocent routinely get put in prison. A burden of proof being low is needed to get rid of crime. Not saying either is the best. But between the two choices, I pick to raise the burden of proof, rather than lower it. You seem to think lowering it is better, and social cohesion is above individual freedom.

"I am Death Noting you, Light Turner...."

Light is a necessary evil, a deterrent like him is needed and the people who oppose the deterrent are a menace to the entirety of society and therefore not innocent

>will either reform, or relapse
You make it sound equal. Even convicted criminals have a massive likelihood of reoffending AND getting convicted again. The percentage who actually reoffend and just don't get convicted again are staggeringly huge.
Frankly, I'd rather have a society where a small handful of innocents suffer but the overwhelming majority are okay, rather than have little girls get their heads splattered on the pavement because some scumbag just got out after his 20 years for murder.

Would you rather a criminal walk free after he raped your mother?

Light was right until he started killing everybody in his way

the winner is always right

Absolutely. My family's well being is nothing before the freedom of the individual.

I would just kill him myself if I were Light. At least I would know beyond a reasonable doubt he did it.

The freedom to rape your mom and get off scot-free? That's not freedom, it's anarchy.

>Non argument
Okay bootlicker tard kek, go ask a thug in blue to kneel on your throat

Who said its for sure? If there is proof, he will be convicted. If there is not, innocent until proven guilty. Setting the bar so low to ensure 100% of criminals are put in prison will incarcerate massive amounts of people who did nothing wrong. It will also allow abuse of the system to imprison people out of spite.

The idea of 10 guilty go free, rather than one innocent is to reduce false positives. You can reduce fase positives with minimal impact on false negatives. Putting an innocent to death(likely thousands before the civil rights movement), puts the blood of murder on every taxpayer. This is something I find morally reprehensible. Not to mention that a long time behind bars will ruin your life if you get released for a wrongful conviction.

again who said he would get off scott free?

Again, it is not perfect, but I choose the lesser of two evils as I see them. I choose to reduce the number of innocents put behind bars. Innocent until proven guilty.

The stronger is always right in this world.
No matter what your view is, the one with more success is always regarded as the right one.

>Reduce innocents and criminals behind bars
>Vastly increase criminals that go free and innocents that become harmed
Genius

Kek what? Your priorities regarding law and order are way out of wack.

Both of them were wrong.
L was extremely intelligent but only used his intelligence to solve cases that interested or challenged him. L had no desire to pursue justice, just to test his abilities.
Light at first truly wanted justice for all of the criminals in the world that got away with their crimes. As he kept using the Death Note, Light went after innocent people and even law enforcement agents to hide his crimes. Light even exploited several people, including his father, and he did not bat an eye when his father was killed, and when his sister was permanently traumatized from being kidnapped by Mello. Light killed three of the purest characters in the story on his own - Rem, Watari, and Penbar - for no reason other than to get away with his crimes.
The point of this story is that every character in this series has their own personal goals that they put above everybody else. They all get punished for choosing themselves. Also, the more nihilistic reality that at the end, it doesn't matter whether someone were good or evil, because they all end up going to the same place: nowhere. Whether they use a Death Note or they were a victim, it doesn't even matter. They all die.

No, you bootlickers dont undersand the value of individual freedom, youd rather have every "criminal" behind bars to satisfy your personal fucking crusade to feel good rather than recognize the importants of personal freedom. fuck you.

No they're not. "History is written by the victor" is a cliche that is sometimes right but often times not. History is written by historians. Those guys have biases and interests that are more nuanced than kissing ass for the mightiest. For example, the so-called Barbarians who destroyed (Western) Rome are not remembered fondly by anyone except romantics and LARPers who glorify the noble Germanic savages. "Vandal" is literally an insult. Another example is the battle of Thermopylae where the winners are remembered as the soulless mooks who died by the thousands even though they fucking won.

Both

>the so-called Barbarians who destroyed (Western) Rome are not remembered fondly by anyone
What do you mean, the Byzantines were quiet thoroughly praised? They're the ones who paid the barbarians to leave them alone and go sack Western Rome instead.
Plus, yknow, Charlemagne is a thing.

Dont bother. You can not stop someone with no regard for freedoms who does not know history. Emotional anecdotes are they sign of a weak mind.

Remember the best state motto.
Live free or Die.
