I am a Japanese who lives in Japan.
I have a question, why is space-based anime Gundam not so popular in America? Is Star Trek and Star Wars enough for space?
Why is Gundam not so popular in America?
I can't get a reply by unnatural English lol
Bandai botched the initial promotion of the series and waited too long to try bringing it over
Despite this it's still fairly popular. Everyone knows what a Gundam is here.
Gundam wing is somewhat popular in USA. I'm not sure why UC Gundam never caught on.
because it's shit.
anything that isn't 0079, OO, Turn A, CCA and maybe Zeta is garbage.
>redditgatari
>because it's shit.
America? Yes, it is, but that's not a good reason for disliking Gundam.
>I am a Japanese who lives in Japan.
I know the answer but I'll only tell if you post a pic of your passport
Wing isn't even that popular anymore and could never compete with other nostalgiashit that aired at the same time.
The big problem for Gundam is that it's kind of a mix of shounen anime and serious science fiction, and it came here so late there were already a lot of competitors that looked more modern and had more concentrated appeal
Thank you for the reply. I see, I wasn't good at advertising Bandai.
I think Zig Forums users are excellent new types
Gundam W is popular with female nerds.
I like First Gundam and Char's Counterattack and UC.
why!?
I was moved by CCA. Almost unconscious, I was about to vote for Donald Trump.
>I was moved by CCA
Why are Japanese like this
>Thank you for the reply. I see, I wasn't good at advertising Bandai.
>I think Zig Forums users are excellent new types
Is this shitty english intentional to convince us you're really a jap? I was under the impression that even japs would lern enough english to formulate proper sentences...
here
>I think Zig Forums users are excellent new types
Actually, it's called "newfags" on Zig Forums.
Yes, as we say in America, "You hit the nail on the head." After Star Wars and Star Trek, the concept of space was completely exhausted as a topic for fiction. When it comes to space, we're good, thanks!
My English ability can make a Filipino English teacher laugh.
Yamato was kind of popular in the 80s, at least among the few people who saw it on TV.
CCA and Be Invoked are the two best anime movies, period.
youtube.com
fine about space ...I see
what kind of thing yours need?
Human rights awareness?
Because Robotech was made from the butchered remains of Tatsunoko productions instead.
based
damn! ! ! Was there Yamato! ! !
Always those two. Something deeply wrong with the Japanese, no wonder their science fiction tradition died out
Yamato was released as Star Blazers and it was basically the same as the Japanese version. Robotech is totally different

I really liked CCA but its not good at all as a standalone film. If you aren't already invested in who amuro and char are as characters from the past material its worthless. There are other anime movies out there that can stand on their own two feet.
Because doozi bots was cancelled
>Wing isn't even that popular anymore
ha ha
How strong Tatsunoko productions......
Compared to that, Bandai is like GM and Zaku ...
My fucking dad has a full collection of robotech dvds are they worth a watch?
It was created for the Gundam otaku until then, so there is no need to stand alone. Only Gundam from episode 1 need stand alone.
The important context is that nobody cared about anime in the United States until the 90s. It was a niche within a niche until it got broadcast on TV at a reasonable hour for kids to be watching it. Stuff like this en.wikipedia.org
The merch isn't lucrative enough for a major following in the US. The average American doesn't have the patience to assemble gunpla.
Quess an absolute shit
Hathaway deserves his fate in Flash
I remembered this. Thank you
ted.com
where do you start with gundam? the movie trilogy?
Hathaway's Flash
double meaning
That's actually false, we have the patience but there's not enough fucking places to actually get the stuff because hobby and model shops are places people now have to drive miles for to reach. Use to see some in barnes n Noble but the problem with that it that people go there for books and Barnes and Nobles keeps it that way. Gundam's problem in the US is that it doesn't have a designated place to be peddled. You'd think buy now with how badly they gutted gamestop to be nerd hobby store we'd see some in there but nope, just more funko shit
To be honest, I entered from the game, and watched the first Gundam trilogy, I watched Z and ZZ only in the game, and watched CCA on DVD. However, the video game G Generation had plenty of stories.
0079 TV, then the third compilation movie, then you're done. The rest of it is all shit
I forgot about Gundam model. Certainly, the Gunpla was an important element so that the aircraft could be made considering the fact that it will be put into Gunpla rather than the story of the animation. But the gunpla was not common in America.
Did we get both G Gens? UC and AU? Cross rays is AU only and i know we got that one. but i don't know if we got one before it with UC in it.
