Actually though, what's going on with the powerscaling then? Progression is a pretty major part of Digimon/Digimon Adventure

From what we've been able to glean this whole whole show is going to be a Greatest Hits Collection of the entire franchise.
The first three episodes were Our War Game with Daiblomon swapped out for Algomon, the bad guy from the Savers movie.
Once they get the digital world it looks like their quest will be given to them by 7 angel digimon picked from across the series. Etc.

It's been a while since we talked about it but what are the odds on an animation quality drop starting in episode four?

Omegamon appears as pretty much a deus ex machina to fight this first big bad, in order to give the show a flashy opening for the viewers.
Yamato and Tai are separated, at least for the next episode or two so it looks like Omegamon won't/can't be the answer to every obstacle that appears.
