Premise: >Teppu is a MMA manga that is built around the rivalry that two women share. >The main character Ishidou Natuso is incredibly naturally talented in most anything she takes time to try at and takes pride in being so. She is bitter at the rest of the world because she is hated by those that have to work towards success and are able to feel pride in doing so. She feels bored by life and lacks any interest in working towards a goal. >One day she meets Mawatari Yuzuko, a happy-go-lucky girl who challenges her to train in women's MMA. Teppu is the consequences of that decision.
It does a lot with that basic premise so don't be scared off with the generic sound of it. Teppu is anything but generic. Its not really a conventional MMA manga so don't expect it to read like Kengan Asura or Baki. Its far more character driven and plot forward. So if you are looking for a gender swapped version of that, please look elsewhere because you will be disappointed. But if you want a more grounded take on the genre and one that deals strongly with interpersonal drama then Teppu will be a great experience.
