Would he have had more potential as a MC if he was never given AFO? Basically if he would have to batman his way to the top without a quirk

The message of the manga should have been, you don't need super powers to help people.

MHA just fell into the Naruto trap with its main character.

Hori's not even close to good enough of a writer to have pulled it off and every fight would just be asspull after asspull instead of peak Batman type fights. If he WAS a good enough writer for it, then sure.
>b-but my quirks are too important!
Stain, Aizawa, and plenty of other heroes have no physical enhancement quirks yet still do their ninja shit and go against other superhumans with physical boosts just fine. Fuck, a highschool girl with a knife has beaten pro heroes even before unlocking her true power.
Even that aside, an entire gadget design division of the school was introduced and could easily have been written to help Deku in that area.
>b-but Shiggy is too OP now! how would batman deal with him?!
Shiggy's massive powerup is a direct consequence of Hori making All Might/OfA ridiculously stronger than almost every other power shown in the manga. We know from the start how bad the powergap is, Shiggy was clearly forced to get a massive powerup just to be a credible threat to a theoretical 100% Deku rather than the other way around.

Who can tell? It becomes kind of a different story if he's just trying to Batman his way to the top.
To be fair, those characters literally built their styles around their quirks, and the general bullshit of society dismissing or putting them into boxes because their quirks or lack thereof.
But the real issue is Hori trying to have his cake and eat it too with UA being this ridiculously prestigious school then shit like Electrodude and Grapist making it into 1-A.

Batman sucks, Batman with Hori's pants on head retarded logic would be unreadable

>AFO
Change OFA to stockpile potential instead of power, so the next holder always starts puny but can reach greatest highs than the previous holder with the proper training and motivation.
Then make Deku work his ass off and allow him to slowly reach All Might's power and then surpass it by the end.

He was never given AFO.

fuck you batman is awesome

>not even a billionaire
NGMI

Just read a Batman comic then retard

Will this thread have the potential to be different to the previous hundred millions of threads about the same topic? The answer to both this and OP's questions are, no

nobody asked if the manga would have been better if deku didnt have afo before.

You would whine for different reasons, quirkless Deku could only work in a different universe and with less powerful villains.

Look at Mashle or Black Clover or Raildex

Mashle is a gag series and Black Clover immediately gave them MC magic powers anyway

>Mashie
Gag series
>BC
It's still overly exaggerated, and Asta actually has an universal counter against magic users
>Railex
No idea, haven't watch it yet

isn't that exactly what the deuteragonist of viglantes does

>and with less powerful villains.
No shit. It's Hori's fault for making the ceiling so high that Shiggy got a powerup to dust an entire city before he even got the afo copy asspull

a quirkless deku only works if the world was half with powers and the other half not

He needs a balanced quirk. Too op like ofa and muh seven(amped) quirks and it's a power fantasy manipulating losers into thinking they're cool since the mc is cool. Living vicariously through a Jesus figure and if its too underpowered, it's the same deal in reverse, now losers can relate to the mc since the mc is a loser and watcher is a loser so you can vicariously live through the mc as you watch his ascent into power. They don't want to tell an honest story with hard problems with hard truths like in real life, they want to sell a product. Sell something as pure as Jesus and watch people become loyal saints. A loyal fan is the best guinea pig of them all. Easy money.

That is why he is the best

we saw what hori would've done with deku if he didn't receive afo during the first sports festival.
>exploding himself with mines to get first place
>murmuring details about every single hero with his ninja info cards
>literally carried by his teammates
>hidden figures wake him up
asspulls of a different nature generally.

but he has a quirk and he´s not a hero at all

he would literally be the friend of the chair

A quirkless Deku would work if he wanted to be a support developer first but turned into a hero midway

a captain america works well if steve had gone to the factories too instead of wanting to go to the front like he wanted

AFO is okay, but it fell to power creep and runaway to his character making him stupid. AFO should have required a fuck ton of training for deku to do anything or remained I PUNCH REALLY HARD LIKE IPPO BUT ACTUALLY PUMP O2 INTO MY BRAIN FOR THOUGHT

OfA should have never been All Might's power, it should have been a power he was entrusted with safekeeping, and all he knew about it was that it was "like" his own power. That way, there would have been some stakes involved with discovering the origins of the power, it would have been less bullshit when All Might is constantly blindsided by new things OfA can do, and there wouldn't be this constant expectation that it will eventually evolve into normal super-strength with no downsides, just like All Might.

As someone who's never actually read a Batman comic and only knows about memes like anti-shark spray asspulls, what are some examples of actually well written defeats of superpowered adversaries for an idea of how Deku would handle things?

Deku is a shit character by default, so no. You can't fix him, because you'd be writing a completely different character

The series has it fine all things considering for where this show is in terms of audience and how it's mostly just X-men japan. The issue is just that AFO becomes a "welp deku can just do that now he doesn't need to be creative because he can just do this powerup". S1 deku basically doesn't exist which makes it hard to relate to where the show is now.

mashle is 100% serious

>Hori's not even close to good enough of a writer to have pulled it off and every fight would just be asspull after asspull
That's what it is now. If Deku needs to be strong enough he just gets a higher percentage. Or Eri let him use 100% or SEVEN QUIRKS.
The problem with "Deku should be Batman" is that the threat level is beyond what you would find in a typical Batman comic. He has dealt with beings stronger that what you would see in MHA but that's when he has the Justice League with him or insane pre time. This is what happens when Batman fights a super powered lunatic without those two
