They barely have personalities beyond being Odens retainers.
Would have been nice to see that some of them abandoned Oden during his five year dance-a-thon. It would have been very interesting for us to realize Kinemon is almost the only one fighting for Oden, and that the rest have acquired different reasons for joining him again against Orochi.

Overall it was a bad situation, and Denjiro only needed to stall Zoro enough to let Orochi run, and let others like the ninja interrupt their fight.
But he does seem strong with the ship cutting thing, though Zoro has done that as well.

With Marco and Law present? Yes. We know Law can make someone immortal, and Marco has healing powers and phoenixes are immortal via death and rebirth. There's easily some hidden shenanigans there that could occur.

My point was that Luffy might "die" to make Kaido's defeat believable.
