Why was S1 so much better than the rest despite being a "production mess", Zig Forums ? we unironically had better sakuga, better direction, better voice acting and SOUL.
the later seasons sure had their moments but something feels missing and I can't really put it into words. surely I can't be the only one who prefers S1 over the rest.
didn't it cut out some things from the original story?
Samuel Brown
Nothing major I guess except for Mikasa's tatto. Some other stuff were made better than the manga like Eren's transformation in episode 24.
Carter Lopez
>Why was S1 so much better than the rest despite being a "production mess" Maybe it was If you have shit taste
Austin Wright
season 1 was a drag. could have been cut in half without losing much.
Easton Gray
S1 >great directing and foreshadowing >pacing and flow suffer at times >too "loud" >QUALITY
S2 >a bit clunky at times but did well in shifting to a more balanced and character focused style >aesthetics are better
S3 >plot is altered from the manga to the anime's detriment >visuals are downgraded >skillfully transitions into lower key storytelling and the second half is great overall with nice setpieces and well realized revelations
S3 P2 >writing is great >direction is occasionally stiff but ensures it's great and beautiful when it counts >understands the source material
Read the manga
Jace Diaz
Just finished watching S3P2 today and it was a fucking mess, it looked like shit and, last few episodes had practically no ost and the last two had egregious amounts of nothing.
Owen Jones
This, season 2 and season 3 p2 were the better ones.
Jace Wilson
S2 a best.
Wyatt Ward
yeah the production value dropped hard, pretty sad too, since s2 and 3 have a better story and better characters imo
Nathaniel Green
If you think S1 is better than S3P2 you are an idiot
Dominic Hall
Hype loss
Liam Gonzalez
pretty much this, but I think S1 pt 1 and 2 should be separated. The Trost arc is great in the anime, but the Female Titan arc is still the worst of all SnK
Josiah Anderson
S3P2 is the best season though
William Wood
All you did is just admit that you’re wrong and you can’t substantiate you’re own opinion.
It’s called first impression bias , the first time you see something the response is different especially in SnK where shock value/seeing something new is at the core of a lot of show at its best.
Tons of people in 2020 seeing it all for the first time perfer s2 or 3
Samuel Robinson
Not really, it's better the way it is. I like it when the staff take their time even though it might seem slow. I did read the manga (might need to give it a re-read). Honestly I stopped watching the anime after S2 but judging from the bits and pieces that I've seen from the rest, they were shit especially the alterations. Surprised that they were recommended by Isayama himself. exactly they had the potential to be much fucking better than S1 but the result was fucking disappointing.
Daniel Gomez
What's wrong with having no OST? Ep 19 was great because it What do you MEAN the last episodes had nothing??? Did you even pay attention to what they revealed??
Gabriel Turner
This. The animation was great (inb4 stills), the characters were great (I was rooting for for people who were literal whos in S1) and the story was great (Ep6 bruh)
Samuel Robinson
the first episodes were the best moments of the entire show, then eren came back and it all fell apart but overall i would say that S2 had the better plot reveals even if noone was surprised at that point and S3 part 2 had the biggest kino factor so far S4 will top all of it, in kino department as well as in the trainwreck catastrophe part
Sebastian Bell
>the Female Titan arc is still the worst of all SnK why?
Ayden Nguyen
>the characters were great (I was rooting for for people who were literal whos in S1 I found it really funny that after S2 and S3, most of the characters that people used to joke about being inrevelant (Reiner, Ymir, Historia) ended up being great.
Landon Martinez
>historia Only to become irrelevant again kek
Lincoln Clark
Are you serious? I'm rewatching it right now and the first part feels amateurish as fuck, both from a writting standpoint and a direction one. Everything feels to unnatural, how they talk, what they say, how they react, the logic they follow...Part 1 retrospectively does it's job, but the part itself is weak, really weak.
Jackson Jenkins
Probably because you're not an adult yet.
Nathan Brown
what you're saying is exactly what I think of the later seasons, Everything feels unnatural and less impactful than it should be. Maybe it's as said that I'm biased but damn everything about s1 is fucking good.
>Everything feels unnatural and less impactful than it should be. Care the explain that further? The later seasons have the most impactful moments of the entire show, what are you on?
Jose Mitchell
>Reiner, Ymir, Historia this, i would have never guessed that they would all be in my top 5 favourite characters.
Landon Flores
go back to seethe to your container thread EMfag
Jackson Powell
Not even close. The first part characters don't feel at all like people, but like drawings saying what the author needs, there's nothing organic in the dialogue in part 1 and the amount of stock responses and weird reactions is awful. You can easily see how much Isayama and WIT improved as time passed.
Jonathan Long
No real character development outside of Eren learning the same lesson like 3 times, the plot goes nowhere for most of the time, and the visual storytelling from Trost is gone I will say that the anime improved it, but they improved Trost a whole lot more. Every arc after it has just been better and better, so FT is kinda left in the dust.
Christopher Brown
Take eren's transformation after the armor and colossal titans' reveal for example, the scene had great animation and OST but I did not feel eren's anger at all compared to his transformation in stohess against Annie. it's like the animators focused on making it flashy more than they tried to convey the feelings of the characters. just look at eren's face.
