i liked it, but i don't think it's the best
what's an honest, even handed critique?

shallow but fun love story, unlike its follow up which screamed POWER OF LOVE and GUN in your face along with BRANDS
Cringe normie shite
>what's an honest, even handed critique?
Hina > Mitsuha
This, TnK was only enjoyable in the theater
Art was exceptional. Story had too many plot holes. Also the characters were quite weak, particularly the male protagonist. What do we know about him aside from the fact that he likes drawing and wants to be an architect?
He hates the big city and that's all you need to know
as mitsuha, he loves squeezing titties, he's good at basketball, and he turns girls gay
quite a chad
i will say structurally it's really weirdly paced
the body switching stops 30 minutes into a 100 minute film when it could've benefited from more development
All I know is that's the image someone recreated in Minecraft by hand that was insane
do you have it saved?
good for people who haven't watched anything better or didn't know there was more to the medium than pokemon, dbz and miyazaki
>normie
>implying its not consumed by normies on a regular basis
Have you been living under a rock?
You see his character through Mitsuha. He's brave and quick to anger as seen when he stands up to mitsuha's bullies. He's also shy and kind.
Can you post pls?
I think he was making fun of the fact that you said "normies," numbnuts.
I wasn't the original poster
you said it too so you're both retarded faggots
t. normie
He's good at basketball compared to girls... Also, it's really easy to be confident when you've got nothing at stake since you know you're gonna switch back to your old body at the end of the day.
He's just so damn bland.
>self awareness
well didn't think i'd see some on Zig Forums
Laughably bad.
Cements Shinkai as a has been who simply wanted to make money. He must be pretty lazy if he didn't think the characters could see the date on their phones/calendars/hear it on the news. internet, or during school.
Movie was a joke, but easy to watch, there's it's legacy.

I honestly believe this film is perfect
Perfect? You must have a strong conviction, I wonder if you'll maintain such a belief in the future? Either way more power to you.
Well I first watched it the day the BDs came out, and I rewatch it constantly
It was a tightly executed story and that's what it did best - no waste. The other virtue was masterful juxtaposition of humor and drama. There were also a nice weaving of call backs and loops.
It's just a solid film.
Animation and art were top tier
I know it's not a completely original concept but everything else was brilliant.
I personally liked the atmosphere the most, There are moments where I was engrossed in the atmosphere. The small town scenes the most - especially the forest with grandma.
I didn’t like your name until I watched tenki no ko which made me retroactively respect YN for not being as shit.
You must have great taste!
What about the time difference? You honestly think that wasn't a plot hole? And a very lazily ignored one at that?
Entertaining, maybe, "perfect" or "tightly executed" I gotta think you've never even watched a good anime in your life.
But be proud of your opinion, lots of casuals and normies agree!
I believe the best opinion is from the creator, who said in an interview that people should stop watching the film and not make It so popular. He never wanted it to become “the best anime film” since he had originally wanted the story to be deeper and more thorough, but they needed to rush production and had budget constraints. I believe he said something like two years wasn’t enough to really tell the story and develop the character’s relationship. People compre him to Miyazaki and he hates it because he knows that Miyazaki would laugh and be able to tell all the errors.
I agree with his comment. It’s a great story with great characters, but character and relationship development is hard to fit in a movie when such a complex plot also exists. Would have been nice if he had more money and time to really finish the movie like he wanted to.
>You must have great taste!
I like to think so
>What about the time difference? You honestly think that wasn't a plot hole? And a very lazily ignored one at that
Where's the plot hole? Inb4 calendars.
>Entertaining, maybe, "perfect" or "tightly executed" I gotta think you've never even watched a good anime in your life.
Well I've only seen around 3k anime over the last 5 years, so maybe
and what else did this creator say?
The original quote wasn't about the story, it was about the visuals.
Both characters owned smartphones.
If you've honestly watched 3k anime and you have such a high opinion of this than you must be braindead.
In that case, I feel bad for you.
It was a sleight of hand that they were aware of when making it and that's why it's a great film - the time difference wasn't a plot hole in that the whole film was structured to distract you from it so first viewing is what it was.
Time travel is the hardest thing to write without running into "AKCHTUALLY".
People like to nit-pick the "plot hole" (that's not what a plot hole really is) because they want to try and tear something down that was masterfully created.
It was a magic trick, hiding the hole from all on first viewing.
Yes, the trick is revealed after you watch it and like 6th sense you can never watch the film the same way again after watching it once - but that is by design.
A true plot hole is something that isn't taken into account through laziness or by accident.
The "plot issue" of your name was entirely taken into account - but it wasn't done so narratively - but structurally (of the film.)
People who suggest it was a bad or lazy film have no fucking idea what they are talking about and haven't actually watched many films and are seeking just to be contrarian in order to seem intellectual or above others.
No kiss = no kamianime
Smartphones usually display the date and not the year, but that's not the point. Very little info carries over after swaps and both are in a dream state for the duration.
Any additional viewing is ruined by the fact that either character could look at their phones, at the television, or at their school calendars which are written on the wall, to tell what year it is. It is a laughably bad movie, which is why its creator has even denounced its success.
Keep defending the Titanic of anime, actual Japanese anime fans would laugh at you.
this is my favorite film, tell me i'm based
