I tried twice man. I just couldn't get through the initial low-quality chapters. I am grateful for the anime because it allowed me to witness the awesomeness that is JoJo. Music's cool as hell as well

pretty much this. Just enjoy the ride but to be fair I picked out JoJo just based on the torture dance. When I finally got to it, it still didn't make sense why DP made it this long.

no, more like how the absurdity of its powers and plot developments and the like is part of the draw, where in other series that take themselves too seriously, something so nonsensical would actively detract from the enjoyment

I may do it after I watch the OVA, I generally prefer manga to anime... but the start is just so bad. And so badly drawn. I love the style it ends up being, but the journey is rough

He didn't sucked at after part five. Just changed and explored a different style, pretty common in artist. He is heavy into wetern vanguardist artist and these guys where all abou changing styles and new techniques.
He has mentioned Gauguin as one of his influences, but you can't talk about him without refering to Picasso and others.
Take this art progression as an example, all by Picasso in different times of his life.
