I believe these two initial 15-page chapters were published in the same issue of Jump, since later chapters will be 20 pages each.
Not a massive fan of these two first chapters really, they feel out of place. The series starts finding its footing soon, but it's not really there yet.

Also, man, Honmaru's design in these early chapters always catches me off guard. He's the only character that got a massive redesign, and he looks so weird and unrecognizable with his original one.

I just bought some old Jump issues I wanted and will probably be getting raped on the shipping but hopefully it'll be worth it. Most of them are pre-Taruruto era though.

Yeah, it has this Doraemon meets Dr. Slump meets Ranma feel to it. He wasn't in this chapter, but Jabao is clearly inspired by Gian, and there's a Suneo knockoff who occasionally pops up too.

Based on the cutesy set-up, it's always been weird to me that this is from a guy who basically only worked in seinen manga for most of his career. It's like he only came back to Jump after Be Free ended because he had originally been an assistant there.

It gets pretty lewd at times. No worse than Dr. Slump or the like, but considerably more so than you'd expect from the initial two chapters.
