Sup fuckers.
When it comes to anime, what are the ones where you prefer the dub to sub? Legendary shit like Golden Boy or Yu Yu Hakusho come to mind for me.
Zig Forums and dubbed anime
>what are the ones where you prefer the dub to sub?
None.
None. Americans sound horrible.
YYH dub fucking sucks and the only reason you care abour it is because you watched it as a 5 year old. Same for the Faulconer DBZ shills.
>you watched it as a 5 year old
try 25 year old.
also Dragon Ball dub better than sub suk my weenier.
Z sucks in general.
I wouldn't say I prefer them over the original, but Cowboy Bebop has a fantastic dub and Triguns dub was pretty good too.
I'm not american, so none.
Dubas that are objectively better than their subbed counterpart
>cowboy bebop
>ghost stories
>golden boy
Acceptable dubs
>yu yu hakusho
>black lagoon
>baccano
>space dandy
Everything else is either shit or forgettable
Anyone know about websites that host nonenglish dubs? I've been using youtube but almost everything is less than 480p
For me it depends on the performance of the actors in said dub
If it's good it's good, but if it's shit well...
I tend to prefer sub's generaly since theires less chance to have things lost in translation.
Raildex's dub is amazing and blows the sub out of the water
None Japanese is a superior language to english
I know couple of websites that host
finnish dubs but seeing that most of the stuff we got were on VHS quality to begin with, the rips aren't that much better
Put Panty & Stocking in the acceptable dub category too.
>what are the ones where you prefer the dub to sub
If you watch dubbed, you're a faggot that is not watching anime.
The only proper way to watch foreign media is to watch them with original voices.
You forgot Yugioh GX in the first category
>Raildex's dub is amazing
Kill fucking yourself. You don't even deserve to be called a "retard", sissy.
>I'm not american, so none.
Honestly most dubs would be bearable if they could properly pronounce the names.
>imagine watching foreign popcultural media dubbed
On par with sub
>Toradora!
>YYH
>DBZ
>One Punch Man
>Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid (German dub)
Better than sub
>Ghost Stories (English gag dub)
>Kill la Kill
>Vision of Escaflowne (German dub)
>Fist of the North Star (French gag dub)
Absolute abominations
>Sailor Moon
Samurai Champloo is pretty alright as well
og Dragon Ball dub is even more garbage burger
This series was originally voices in English, so no wonder why it sounds like it should.
>cancelled and censored episodes
>>>>better because of some lame abridged jokes
Wrong and fuck off.
ah I didn't know that
Naruto for Rock Lee, Guy, Kakashi, and Gaara's voice actors. Watching sub doesnt feel the same. It just sounds like any other anime subbed.
I watch with Japanese dubs and English subs whenever possible, but sometimes I watch with Japanese subs or no subs.
>country has a lot of good VAs
>most of the time anime characters are voiced by ones that aren't
The only anime I watch dubbed are from the 80/90s because of nostalgia.
>Watching sub doesnt feel the same.
It feels at it should. If you are watching the dub, you're not watching the same thing.
>It feels at it should.
I never feel obligated to watch the sub of anime because of this. With foreign live action movies, it's a different story of course. I'll always choose the sub. But considering that most anime has literally single digit frames, dubbing to match facial expressions is extremely easy and borderline unnoticeable if you didnt know better. Subs are usually better, but not essential when it comes to anime. The only times a dub is unacceptable and truly ruins the vision of the show/movie is for live action movies.
>With foreign live action movies, it's a different story of course.
It's literally the same. Dub in animation or games is like replacing actors in movies (and Americans are masters of xenophobic behaviors like this - they butchered so many good foreign movies, because Americans are incapable of watching foreign actors and listening to foreign languages).
>Dub in animation or games is like replacing actors in movies
Nope. Not even close. They're still the same character design.
My favorite pasta:
1. Original voice actors are picked by original staff. They know who would fit the character exactly how they want.
2. Original voice actors are directed by original staff and they have contact with them. They know their characters.
3. Original voice actors lives in source country and they know how to act accordingly to their social standards and traditions.
4. If we are talking about Japanese voice industry, original voice actors are always representing their characters in TV special programs, radio shows. They are often singing in character songs and they are doing it with that particular character voice.
5. Subs are always A LOT closer to original meaning and references. Translators can explain cultural things in notes or just assume that people will be smart enough to understand what is going on. Also, they don't need to rewrite the dialogue to fit with limited time for VA.
6. Subs in most cases don't localize food names, proper names, popculture.
7. Even if subs are wrong you can still hear the original voices and original acting.
8. Character personalities remains untouched (speech style, catchphrases, politeness and other quirks).
As you see, dubs are completely changing your perception of literally anything. That's why dubs are always inferior.
Personally, I would rather choose to not watch than watch dubbed. Especially for Japanese content. Voices are like 50-70 of my enjoyment of it comes to anime, because voices = personalities.
Dubs are OBJECTIVELY INFERIOR.
