There's a bunch of tutorials on youtube. I wasted a lot of time trying to do this and that myself to see how it works and find the stuff I want. Now I regret it, there was a ton of ready solutions which would've saved me weeks at least.

use eyedropper tool on other artist art, learn the pattern or save their color. Do this while you read some books on color theory.
