Season 2 was meant to come out last season and the webnovel hasn't had a release in like half a year. It's suspected that Tappei was instructed to wait for the LN to catch up with the WN for the end of arc 6 as it's meant to be a bombshell (possible Rem waking up) and they want to capitalize upon it as much as they can with LN sales. Basically we're in a Re:Zero drought right now.
