I'm convinced people who "like" Ideon only watched the movies and not the atrocious tv show.
Gunbuster

Ideon was terrible, I don't think I'll ever watch anything else by Tomino.
And you're right. So tell me user how bad was the tv show
fpbp
It excels at every objective quality metric you throw at it. There is no logical reason to dislike it, beyond an underdeveloped palette or personal issue.

Pretty bad. It's genuinely painful to watch but at least every 5 or so episode something cool happens and the concepts are interesting so it's not completely worthless.
Anno cocksuckers are worthless
The movie still has the best soundtrack of all time

The movie is also shit
TV show has a slow start but everything past ep 10 is great
The first movie utterly fucks the pacing
>le tuhmeenuhfag
hahahahahaha
agreed, it's just so...
meh
watchable, but nothing special nor lasting.
If Eva is so good, answer me these without looking them up:
What's Pen-Pen's role, besides being the obligatory mascot character?
Where and how did Rei come to be? This one is easily explainable, unless you stay within the borders of the show :^)
We have a whole city that goes underground, why are we almost never shown that other people besides the main characters live in it? Why is the atmosphere of it so poorly conveyed?
I liked the show when it focused on the crew, people is where Tomino shines. Most of the mech and space battles were stupid and drawn out. And just like 0079 the show looks like dogshit.
But the second movie fixes the ending and there is something to be said about a tragic ending and the message it sends. Humanity is shitty and the cycle of conflict is endless, it can only end when the barriers that separate people an alienate themselves from each other are completely removed. If current events are any proof, beyond the history of humanity, people have what seems like a compulsion to do the shittiest thing possible and the few who are trying to do good are caught in the middle.
Ideon, a show people only like because in the movie every single character dies.

user, Gunbuster fucking sucks.

NO.
Is that the movie which has the scene where the little kids are operating a rocket launcher and one of them gets insta-vaped? Haven't watched Ideon, but see the webm posted numerous times
Incorrect.
>winner of the Nebula Award for dramatic presentation
>highest ranking OVA in 1989 Animage Grand Prix
>influenced the writers and designers of Star Trek The Next Generation
>influenced Hideo Kojima's approach to storytelling
>"the only true sci-fi anime" - Nozomu Takahashi, producer of The Cat Returns
>effects animation by Shoichi Masuo still referenced years later in Gurren Lagann and Gundam Build Fighters
Maybe you were thinking of the generic shit of the time like Patlabor
Influencing a hack like Kojima is not a good thing.
I agree with this, and this is coming from someone who loved 0079 and Zeta.
It's decent, but it gets fucking praised like the second coming of Christ. Maybe I need to watch it again, but nothing immediately grabbed me the first time.
>influenced Hideo Kojima's approach to storytelling
So, haphazard and non-sensical?
>hack
>Kojima
pick one

ye the movie is pretty shit
hello Zig Forumstards
He’s a hack who made a shitty walking simulator.
Yes. The crew is taking such heavy losses that the children jump in at the end of the battle and one gets her head blown off. I had seen that webm before but I had no idea it was from that movie until I saw it. It's so absurd I couldn't help but laugh.
Metal Gear has a more intelligent story than any anime.
Fucking Kirby is more intellectual than anything Kojimbo has ever done.
I haven't really liked anime since I was 16 or 17, I'm just going with the motion since then tbqh familia.

Opinion discarded.

Imagine worshipping a failed film director.
The Fist of the North Star anime. Not the manga, just the anime.
