I'm a long time One Piece reader and I finally gave in and read hunter after seeing all the discussion here. Hunter is pretty boring compared to One Piece as theres lots of text that reads like a book and the characters are mostly forgettable and seem to get powerups on the spot. Hunterfags also say that no one ever dies in One Piece which is kind of true, yet no one dies in Hunter either? All of the "deaths" turn out to be fake so does this mean that hunterfags are actually retarded? And why do Hunters praise their series when it doesn't get 1/10 of the sales One Piece gets, is it jealousy because One Piece is the best shonen ever made?

Narrative focuses less on battles and more on strategy, psychology and battle of wits. What sets the series apart from other battle anime is its unorthodoxy and unpredictability. Shonen tropes and storytelling methods are undermined throughout the series

I'm also a long time One Piece reader. In my opinion you should watch the 2011 Hunter x Hunter rather than read it. It flows a lot better, and it does a lot of things right. The best it has to offer can compete with the best One Piece has to offer, so stick around and give it another shot—don't let elitist fans stop you from enjoying a good shonen.

But One Piece is an adventure series primarily and it's not like there is constant fighting. And Wano is an amazing arc that has all you're looking for. Oda also introduces way more characters than Togashi does and they are all memorable and have personalities unlike HxH counterparts.

Hunter X Hunter is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal user can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.
However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the hatsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole hunter faggotry and everything about the Hunter X Hunter world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.
Hunter X Hunter is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to Zig Forums, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every user to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Hunter X Hunter threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.
