But we know that the Titans have already reached Marley. Annie and Pieck will find their hometown devastaded, their families dead. Falco is a shifter. This will show just how far Eren is willing to go in order to achieve his goals. Not only he tricked him, but now he's going to sacrifice Falco. Poor Falco, who only wanted to be helpful to others.
Reiner is a shifter. Killing him conludes the RE kino that was bound to end with only one of them surviving. Reiner only recently understood what Eren meant before transforming in Marley. Yes, Reiner will indeed fulfill his duty as a warrior until the bitter end, but what he doesn’t realise is Eren will do exactly the same, until his enemies are destroyed.
Armin is a shifter. Killing him marks Eren's ideological victory over Armin's naïve idealism. Eren will kill Armin, his childhood friend. Eren will kill Armin, who ignited the fire burning inside Eren’s heart that pushed him to see the Ocean. Eren, who has seen the cruel truth of this world, will kill Armin, who still desperately clings to his unrealistic ideals.

This really needs to happen unironically. The whole story up until now has been building up to it. I don't give a single fuck if she survives or dies from it but it simply needs to happen no matter of the outcome, especially after the last chapter. If you're gonna push a fucking theme of advancing against an enemy then getting fucked up and on the brink of death is what you're asking for. No one picks up a gun or a sword and goes to battle without expecting to die, and you can blame your enemy for killing you unless you're a subhuman hypocrite. What you can blame people for however is treachery and lack of good motives.
