It's on the same level as LOTR and somewhat below LOTGH.

LOTR doesn't really do anything much better than these two stories. Characters are actually less deep than One Piece characters and the world building is about equal. LOTGH has a better story than both.

LotR is a well-paced, believable medieval fantasy world with a vast backstory, solid characters and was the basis for an entire new literary genre.

One Piece is slow, fantastical to the degree where things only work the way the author wants them to work when the author needs them to, gags are get-out-of-jail-free cards for sticky situations. I enjoy some One Piece every now and again but it's nothing more than popcorn entertainment.

It was the basis for the entire genre but lets not pretend it's anymore believable or realistic than One Piece. I don't know what you mean by >Things work out perfectly fine like the author wants them to as well.

Things work out better over all in LOTR then in One Piece unless you want to count the silmarillion but that's a backstory. LOTR is a typical good vs evil story and it's great, but nothing I would call believable and that's not a criticism, fantasy stories aren't better for being realistic.
The characters actually have less characterization. The greatest points of LOTR is the world building and lore which I think OP matches in its own unique way. You might be right about the pacing though but that's a difference in mediums.
