In Kengan vs Purgatory not a chance, there is no one in Kuroki's level for purgatory, maybe Worm Niko can have a high level fight but I doubt he is even on purgatory's line up.

I highly expect Hood will be in the same ballpark as Kuroki and we know he's infiltrated the Purgatory reps so he's probably one of them (my theory is Lu Tian).

Borderline impossible to top this fight if only because it completely redefined our expectations.

I don't say "subverted" because it wasn't a cheap trick like, say, Medel having about four different personalities glued together was. This fight means that no matter how Kengan progresses we can never actually count out it doing something tremendously badass in spite of all the story hooks pointing the other way.

And because this (well, maybe the Kiryu fight more but I'd argue this is actually more impressive) completely shattered them we no longer can be as surprised. Kuroki by narrative traditions shouldn't have been favoured against *anyone* he fought - a generic karate old dude against the hero's friend? a generic karate old dude against the hero's rival? a generic karate old dude against a too-cool-for-school speedster? a generic karate old dude against a guy who'd been built up from his first appearance as borderline unstoppable?

Yet he beat them all, and won our hearts.

I'm actually not that interested in seeing a rematch because I don't know how realistic it is for Gensai to get better and I don't know what sort of interesting improvements Agito can make.

Part of me wants to say that "it would be interesting if Kuroki just stayed in the background as a reminder that there's always going to be someone stronger" but A. there's a character from FOTS who is canonically supposed to be the Sandroverse GOAT (as unsatisfying as that is) and B. the returned Ohma is plausibly on the same level or better than Kuroki given that he's had two years to improve.

They said he was on the same level as *Long Min*, not Ranjo (the guy Ohma crumpled), and that was before Long Min went undercover and Hood surpassed him and killed him offscreen. Long Min has never lost onscreen (though he did get stalled out by Cosmo, but Cosmo couldn't get close to him.)

While there are a few characters I don't particularly like in Kengan Rei is the only one I actually think was badly used in the story.

The fact that he never had any tricks really beyond "fast as fuckboi" meant that his fights weren't super entertaining either and he's the only quarterfinalist I can say that about.

not only that but the "fighting 4 love !" is cringe worthy to say the least, others fighters fought for their village, pride, etc, he fought for pussy and acted cocky lmao
