It's good. But not nearly as good as the fandom makes it out to be. See , or even how highly rated it is on MAL and other normalfag sites. It's honestly pretty shallow but probably the peak of shonen.

Anything that has a bad ending can't be considered good for that reason.

School Rumble, Death Note, FMA and FMA:B, Bleach, and others all were plagued by horrible endings which is why it's hard to say they are good despite how popular they were in the moment.
