Could someone explain put buying to me in caveman terms? I'm looking to try my first options play with AMPY because it's stupid cheap and potentially less risky, but I don't understand the options numbers. The market price for AMPY right now is 1.27, and I think it could go down before going up, so wouldn't buying puts be a way to make money off of it? Why is the lowest put price $2.50? Should I be looking at the break even price? For example, an August 21 $7.50 put is $6.25 today. What in the world could someone do with that? Would I be out money if I actually bought a put, and how would I take profits?
