Lyrical Nanoha

This is quite likely the greatest case of wasted potential in the history of anime. Seriously, so much potential wasted because faggots in charge were complete hacks with zero imagination.

There are Chinese phone games that did a better job developing their settings. It's so annoying.

What direction did you want it go?

I don't get why this tends to be felt so strongly. StrikerS takes a ton of steps to build upon the setting and built up the TSAB and its inner workings on top of what had already been established beforehand. Midchilda's architecture and whatnot being western based was purposeful since that's exotic to the Japs, of course it won't be that remarkable for a western viewer. Alien settings using a foreign culture as a basis is nothing new in fiction. Rio's homeworld being Just China still comes off as lazy despite this admittedly so maybe I'm a hypocrite.

Now as far as Vivid and Force go, the ball was admittedly dropped some. There was a lot of potential to explore the other worlds present and how they work with Mid, and the lineage of past Belka plotline from Vivid could have been explored much more thoroughly. But at the same time, part of the point of Vivid is that all of these major bloodlines of the past are dealing with the present in their own way and realizing that even in a time of peace they can continue living and enjoy themselves with a much happier ending than their ancestors. Force featured world-jumping but the worlds within were not particularly noteworthy or built upon at all. Admittedly it wouldn't have had much to do with the greater narrative so I understand why in a way, but it could have been interesting.

StrikerS ruined it by making Mid completely boring and TSAB beyond retarded. And they have absolutely no idea where to take the story. It's remaking stuff and going in circles for a decade.

StrikerS fucking up everything. World building was a joke.

What exactly were you expecting? Mid was established to be a civilized humanoid-centric world from the beginning. They focused on what worked for the plot, which was the political angle. I don't think they did a bad job on shining a light on the relations the different TSAB departments had with each other or iterating further on what A's had already touched upon, that the higher ups were not as pristine as they seemed. Any higher level of government will have corruption and black projects in the making.

Nanoha's reboot/new series fucking when?

The new movies are already an odd form of reboot.

The Lyrical Live announcement being the classic Japanese announcement of a future announcement enrages me, what could they possibly be doing that prevented them from so much as showing a titlecard or key art at a major 15th Anniversary live event?

Political stuff was terrible. Worse written than generic isekai trash.

We had all higher ups being idiots, completely retarded ideas like limiters and literal brains in jars pulling the strings. Bad guys were so weak and shitty they needed anti magic to be a threat at all. Alien planet was just Earth covered in empty communist blockhouses.

Honkai is everything Nanoha tried to be but couldn't. Designs are much better too. You know you really fucked up when gacha game does it better.

The movies are just to cash in the nostalgia. I wish for them to throw the time skip stories to the trash and continue with Nanoha, Fate and Hayate doing stuff in the earth while they're teens.

>Politics in a mahou shoujo

The concepts present made sense to me. There is an absolutely insane amount of infighting within any greater government organization. I'll admit going for the literal brains in jars was corny. Limiters as a concept makes sense when you are dealing with a setting where everyone's magical potential is so varied and a single person can be a walking apocalypse. Of course the factions with the generally weaker people within them are going to push politically for different factions of the army to be limited out of jealousy as well, they have to justify their own existence.

It makes no sense. If limiters are a thing this means DAB has no opposition to the point they start fighting themselves. It's like if air force was forcing limiters on submarines.

And this makes no sense since entire reason why Regius did what he did was because DAB had not enough personnel to handle threats already and was on the verge of falling apart. It's like if it was written by a 12y old.

Not to mention that if DAB was this shitty Nanoha and friends would never join it.

Mahoiku did it well. Tsuzuki is just incompetent.

Again, literally every single organized form of government has infighting, and the problem only grows the larger said government is. Given the scale of the TSAB it's not surprising at all that there's inner power struggles and factions that don't see eye to eye.

>It's like if air force was forcing limiters on submarines.
Uh, this may come as a surprise to you but while it's not done that literally, different military factions vying for funding and undercutting the others is a very real thing. Are you the 12 year old you're complaining about, here?

Regius had some good intentions but he was also a jealous prick because he himself had no real magic potential in a setting where that is obviously key, so he put everything he had into the political side of things and worked on dangerous projects because he wanted his own powerful magical force.

Things would have been so much better if TSAB was a cool magic army and wasn't full of fodders

Admittedly the series already has a problem with threat scaling due to how numerous the protagonists are. If the entire TSAB force was competent magical warriors anywhere near Nanoha's level you'd need some downright absurd threats for anything to matter.

There is a big difference between subtle lobbying and games under the surface and literally putting limiters on people that could lead to them dying in combat. It's like forcing infantry to wear lead weight because they are too strong.

It was done horribly.

Political writing in StrikerS is like if little kid read a serious political thriller and tried copying it but he forced ninja turtles in there.

What does Honkai have in common with Nanoha?

Getting approval to lift the limiters in situations where it's necessary is done timely in StrikerS. The primary purpose of them is because, again, in a setting where it's possible for one person to cause untold destruction on their own, it would be absurd to not have some sort of leash on them. Scaglietti and his forces had no such leash and it was a dire mistake.

I'm surprised that Mid's citizens aren't regulated in a similar manner to be honest. Sieg is a monster.

Magical girls, magitech, soft/m/, politics, flying ships, different universes, yuri.

No it makes no sense because civilians with same or better powers don't need limiters at all. And no, limiters are not removed quickly or easily. It required two very high ranking officers. Only idiots would join such a shitty organisation.

Nips can't write stories about politics for shit. When they do most of the times it's just worth laughing at.

Tsuzuki should stick to writing stories about cute girls beating the shit out of each other and being gay, magic, German-speaking weapons than wasting his time writing political nonsense that is hardly more meaningful and thought-provoking than a quick glance at my local newspaper's headlines.

I could never bring myself to care about the whole military and political side of Nanoha. All the members of that organization seem to be completely useless anyway.

Why was Reflection such a piece of boring shit?

Why didn't Refection/Detonation have a single panty shot,, like all past movies / series?

Fuck this piece of crap, I moved to Prisma Illya years ago.

You having fun with 3rei and Phantasm over there?

Exactly this. It's a bunch of useless fodders and retarded generals.

I liked 3rei.
I still haven't watched the movie and Phantasm, and now your reply made me nervous.
Well, they can't be that bad, they already announced a new series or movie IIRC....
They can't be that bad, right?
