What an absolute fucking mess this was. The obvious island arc, I was assuming it would just be boring, but the absolute shit animation, shit storyboarding, shit humor, an entire cuckold arc, what an absolute shitshow. 10 episodes of complete garbage, what an absolute waste Nemo fucks his surrogate daughter Sanson fucks his much much much younger surrogate daughter Last two episodes were weak, but compared to everything else I'll fucking take it
I've never seen anything else in any medium with this much wasted potential. It's not good, I'm going to leave this and never think about it again. There were a few incredible episodes, and even in the piles of shit, some flashes of brilliance.
EP 13 would stand as one of my favorite episodes of any series ever, I would point to it as a jewel of the series as a whole, a reason for anyone to watch, but nope, ruined in the final scenes. Again, what an absolute mess this was

Artistic freedom comes first. That being said, I hate this shit, it decreased my enjoyment of the series pretty significantly. The distinction between expressing an opinion and forcing it on others is important. If you didn't care that's fine, good for you.
More to your point, I'd probably overlook it if 23-33 didn't exist, but holy fuck there was a ton of garbage in this show. My only other criticism would be that the plot kind of folded near the end, but it just didn't hold up to the rest of the highlights in the show, it wasn't bad or anything. It felt like they were rushing to hit storyboard panels and just stringing events together for most of 38 and 39 just so the could wrap everything up. In the context of ten full episodes of filler that's a travesty.
I'll agree that the last arc did feel a bit rushed. I loved it nonetheless but it seemed to have a bunch of ideas that weren't fulled fleshed out. Even when skipping the island/Africa arcs I could tell the show was getting spotty in the second half, which was a pity since the first part of the show before the filler was so solid and great.
It's a pity that it seems every TV show Anno directed was cursed in some form or another. Arguably Evangelion was the one that made it out the most intact despite its budget problems due to the EoE movie giving it a proper ending. But personally I still prefer Nadia and its boundless optimism and adventure, despite its flaws.

30 was arguably important, there were certainly some important scenes, but the vast majority of the visual gags fell flat. Pretty much the whole cast was OOC for the entire time for the sake of jokes, except for the brief moments when the plot had to be pushed forward.
I wonder if someone has supercut the plot sections of the island arc together as an intermediate episode.

It's an awesome idea in theory but it would be a failure that would likely collapse or stall indefinitely after the first movie. Look at how it's been 13 years since Eva Rebuild 1 and 4 still isn't out. Anno's starting to age and I don't think he has it in him to rebuild Nadia.

Houkago no Pleiades was technically a Gainax anime, and it had a very solid ending. Ironic how it took throwing out all of Gainax's old talent to get something that ended fine.
