Hard to believe that none of the SOS Brigade's seiyuu are relevant anymore except for Sugita and Ono. Chihara would be mostly unemployed now if it weren't for KyoAni.

Pretty much all of its themes are unique. There's no other show that successfully represents predetterminism. Even things like time travel haven't been done right in anime outside of Haruhi. The way sci-fi elements bend into reality is amazing and every attempt at replicating that was a failure (see Bunny Girl Senpai).
It also did a better job at deconstructing moe and otaku culture than Eva.

It's unironically the best anime ever made, but it isn't for everyone. Give it a try but it's not guaranteed that you'll get it. The tricky part is that it doesn't tell you where to dig, so you keep thinking you get it when you only have a surface level understanding of it.

The show tricks you into thinking it's using a trope, but then the effect of what's happening ends up being more realistic than how it usually is in the trope, thus ridiculing the trope. Haruhi does that for a living. Every character in the SOS brigade appears to be 1 dimensional tropes until we realize they're unreliable at it and pretty much just "playing a role" because that's what Haruhi wanted.

If you're asking about the deconstruction comment, it's mostly because Evangelion isn't the deep deconstruction some people say, Anno has admitted that while he did put some serious elements like depression in it, at the end of the day he was just trying to tell a story.

The guy is even proud of being an Otaku, for God's sake, there is an action figure of the guy dressed up as Ultraman, he is only critical of Otaku who have no other interests and do nothing with their lives, as he thinks people need to know more than just anime and manga, even just to make anime and manga themselves.

He's not really as hateful of Otakus and the culture as some people seem to think.

Eva doesn't really deconstruct moe and otaku culture i agree (it did subvert the guy grope tits then get slapped trope for example however), but it definitely comments on it and makes it part of its main theme about escapism. Rebuilds are also very obviously Anno mocking the fandom.
