as i said very quality works, they are very good movies overall but they don't even compare to the original NGE and EoE in any department

I just find the first movie ending oddly beautiful how ayanami tried to create a world where she thought shinji would be happy but he's like "nah".

I don't think we'll get an happy ending but it would be pretty pointless if nothing changed, also because the characters have developed differently from the original

yeah, the choice was up to Shinji, but SEELE's plan was still concluded everyone entered instrumentality but instead of being stuck there they have the choice to come back as a individual

I liked it as far as aesthetics go and I like the weirder Evas (like that wheel thing Mari was piloting briefly) but they feel rushed at times

1.0 was fine but besides getting to see better animated fights it felt really pointless even with the teases something greater was going on.
2.0 immediately went off the rails and shat the bed, missing some of the best scenes and episodes in the tv series while replacing them with schlock. Mari was a waste of screentime that feels like something out of a bad spinoff rather than a mainline entry, and Asuka just got...nothing, really.
3.0 is so far off the rails you can no longer even pretend the series is a remake and was a fucking mess that sets up a ton of stuff but has basically no payoffs to any of it. Whether or not the Rebuilds can be remotely redeemed and end up a worthwhile watch hinges entirely on whether the last one gives satisfying payoffs to what 3.0 setup that tie up things thematically in a coherent manner.

2.0's aborted Impact wasn't what they were pissed about. At some point inbetween it and 3.0 Unit 01 woke up and was part of a real Third Impact that got further before being aborted and that's why it got sealed away, why the world seems so much more fucked up than the end of 2.0, and why everyone blames him. Its alluded to in the film and then side-materials have all but confirmed it.

3.0 is mostly just a remake of episode 23 and 24 with a bit of new stuff for the new context.

The night 3.0 premiered and Zig Forums reacted to the spoilers is still one of my fondest memories from this place. The absolute pandemonium over the timeskip alone was great.

They're shit, they're called "rebuilds" yet didn't manage to capture the nuances of the original Eva at all, all flash and no substance. I think they're a pointless addition to this franchise and that Eva would have been better off without it and all the garbage it introduced. Shouldn't have gone past EoE that tied up all the loose ends with action scenes infinitely better and more emblematic than anything the rebuilds could ever hope to shit out to try sucking more money out of this franchise.
