>what the hell? People told me this was the deepest and saddest shit in the modern anime and I felt nothing
That's what you get for believing the popular concensus.
>literally slice of life tier
SoL can be very emotionally rewarding if it's done right, not a good comparison.
It was decent, but no masterpiece.
Certainly better than muh bodyswap timetravel shit tho
KnK was giga-cringe. Not trying to defend YN but that was at least enjoyable to watch, while KnK had all those cringe-moments. Endings of both films were shit thou.
it was kyoani fags thirsty for Yamada success especially off the back of Your Names success.
It was a bloated mess that should have had half the cast cut/merged with other characters.
That it's never really spoken about or brought up is testament to how mediocre it was after the fact.
Further, Yamada could have directed a few scene's better - and the third act had the worst pacing issues.
Part of that was marketing's fault though. I'm pretty sure they insisted that as much of the cast that did show up were to be included otherwise the manga fans would have thrown a shit-fit.
This
>SoL can be very emotionally rewarding if it's done right, not a good comparison
Hell, even Yamada’s past SoL were emotionally rewarding. Silent Voice is just one of her weaker stuff
Feeling nothing about stuff is a general state of Zig Forums, it hardly tells anything about the movies.
>People told me this was the deepest and saddest shit in the modern anime and I felt nothing,
That's called having a different opinion, feels good, doesn't it?
>t. my favorite drama is Clannad
It is, you're just emotionally retarded.
>Doujins of KnK
Anyone lewding pure princess Shouko needs to be shot
It made me feel like a piece of shit for being an asshole in high school. Although those emotions and thoughts may have just been the liquor doing the thinking.
race mixing garbage
kyoani deserves the flames
Your Name is better.
>Background character has black boyfriend
>Still seething 3 years on
Another insecure white boy
He's a good man, deal with it.
It's actually really irresponsible of him to pursue a relationship with a Japanese woman who has no intention of leaving Japan. Their offspring will be persecuted their entire lives.
They would have been better off emigrating to someplace like the states if they wanted to pursue the relationship.
Even white/japanese mixing gets persecuted.
The GR/mother of the mixed kid selfishly let the tingles functionally handicap her progeny.
You actually think weird cheesy teenage romance with no subtle lesson better than a message about school bullying and reaching an understanding about people around you, expressed in the most emotionally impactful possible?
A message that only the bullies (or bullying victims with the stockholm syndrome) will like.
Japan is the best country in the world, so being persecuted in Japan is better than living unpersecuted somewhere else.
>a message about school bullying and reaching an understanding about people around you
What is that message if you don't mind me asking? The protagonist was a bully, he got a taste of his own medicine, then after the time skip, he is instantly redeemed. He has become a good person off-screen, and there is no redemption shown to the viewer. The bullied girl doesn't even hate him anymore, instead she almost immediately falls for him.
>expressed in the most emotionally impactful possible?
When someone tries to express everything in the "most emotionally impactful possible", it usually ends up even more cheesy than the teenage romance you mentioned. Koe no Katachi screams emotional manipulation. Genuine emotions arise naturally from the situation, not because the author is deliberately trying to make you cry on every opportunity by being overly melodramatic.
>You actually think weird cheesy teenage romance with no subtle lesson better
At least it's genuine and doesn't try and fail to be sophisticated. You can enjoy it in the same way as a fairytale, for example.
>I felt nothing
Okay psychopath
japan is the land of “the nail that stands out gets hammered down”
taking in brazilians was shit for both, the japanese natives and the brazilian migrants. Read it up, japanese literature is full of it
Bullying a friendless deaf girl and then wondering why he got bullied too. Irredeemable scumbag.
>“the nail that stands out gets hammered down”
That's the foundation of every society.
As a historic foundation, maybe, but it's a concept that's very much alive in today's Japan unlike in many western societies where being a special snowflake is often seen as something desirable.
The thing I liked about this film wasn't how sad it was but the fact at the very start I actively remember thinking to myself "Oh they're gonna try to make me feel sorry for the bully by the end, not gonna happen, he's a cunt" but in the end, I was genuinely happy when he saves Shouko and survived. It's supposed to be about a deep regret burning away at him knowing he can never undo the suffering he caused her and wanting to fix things knowing he cant and them closer together through a mix of guilt, forgiveness and love
>stupid people can't praise something they like without hyperboles
There you go. It was nice I felt things at least, but no, it's not anime messiah.
Your mistake is thinking KyoAni fags are people.
