Eva pretty much kickstarted the anime community in my country. Those were amazing times. People were writing all these essays about Dirac, life scripts, Christian symbolism, the Jewish conspiracy, or just smaller scale shit like how カヲル totally stands for 終わり Caesar shifted by one, and all kinds of other crap. And we did this basing almost everything on second-hand information because almost no one had the VHSes. We were hunting for pictures, messages, anything to get a better idea what the fuck was happening. So good. I miss it so much.
