Yes

Show me

Apparently not many fans here, probably has to do with the first chapters being rough and the series only starting to become what it is at the first Chojin Olympics.

I do enjoy it a lot though, and i really wish more chapters would just come out.

Kinnikuman might be the OG 80's battle shounen, it neeeds to come back to show weebs how real shounen was like.

Sure I do, starts as a ultraman parody that gets better as the series progresses, the tag tournament and throne succession arcs are 11/10.

GO GO MUSCLE

Yes, but it would be more popular if someone would finish translating the rest of the original anime.

i love kinnikuman, but the anime is kinda bad.

new revival chapter when?

well if Tiger Mask W worked or even like Salor Moon crystal
a remake/remaster/whatever might work too

I intend to read it at some point. But chapter release gaps, is what is making me to put it off for a long time.

you might as well atleast read it since you got like over 700 chapters to go threw before you hit the current arc.

Warsman the best

i might do it. A lot of new manga I picked up to read are very generic, so I need to read something better.

i'm sure you've already heard of all the typical issues the scans have so i don't need to repeat them, but for the most part the scans are good enough and the revival hasn't had a single bad scan yet.

I remember watching the english dub as a kid but I have thought about actually getting into it every so often. Can anyone who has read the manga provide an unbiased review?

Got it. Will keep in mind that it will get better. I've read plenty of terrible scans of various old series before, so I know how to manage my expectations.

well first off what you watched as a child was the sequel, Nisei (or known as Kinnikuman II), which is now set in a different setting than the current Kinnikuman run.

second off its just a really nice shonen series that at the very least pushed the idea of "power of friendship", if your any sort of wrestling fan i'm sure you'd get more appreciation from it too, i wouldn't say by today's standards it does anything special or unique, but that it does what it does well, if by the numbers sometimes.

also having nice(if simple) character designs helps out, and it is fun to see Kinnikuman's Journey from an selfish and cowardly wimp to an actual brave and selfless man, if only because you see him start out on the very bottom of the ladder, and it takes a good while before he starts making big progress (but the smaller progress is still there), its one of those things that gets nicer the more shonen's you've seen where characters are underdogs for all of five minutes or never grow out of loser status., not sure if i could hold my biases in check here so i apologize.

yeah the earlier scans have questionable quality, but everything past that is good right up until the throne arc(the final arc of its original run) where the poor two man team of translators couldn't handle it anymore and someone just copy and pasted their direct translation notes. its still workable, and the revival (which is everything after the throne arc) is spectacular in its scan quality, but i'm not going to lie and tell you that the direct translation is perfect, or even great, but it gets the job done as rough as it is.

tl;dr so yeah everything in the middle of the original manga's run is good scans, but the first arc and the last arc are kinda rocky, thankfully this isn't the case afterwards (revival)

NO, JUST NO

My complete and unbiased review of kinnikuman is that's based as fuck and all the retarded shit that happens, whether be from character antics or bad writing/plot holes, only enhance the experience. I will say that it has a slow start but once it fully leans into it's own world and wrestling it launches up in quality

I watched all the subbed episodes, yes it was bad.

>One of the most popular anime of the 70s
>somehow not considered worthy of getting a modern anime

fuck, meant to say 80s

>Big bro Ataru came through
Why can't modern shonen siblings be as good as him?

They’d just complain every time something resembling an asspull occurs. Which is a lot, if my memory serves me correctly.

Oh yeah, Kinnikuman was also the OG asspuller and faker of deaths, but it's so absurd that kinda gets away with it.

It's just a matter of time

Holy fuck, I remember seeing the anime for this as a kid and couldn't figure out what the fuck it was called, thanks user

I do, collected all the games, the PS2 game was a blast to play with friends. I really doubt it will be popular ever again, last time when YT had those stats you could look up, all Kinnikuman videos had audiences of 33-50 year old nips, that was in 2010, now they are even older. I have no idea what they would gain with a remake, really it's a dead series in the means of getting games or adaptations, but the manga is still pretty entertaining. I'd just be happy with some OVAs with the most kino moments and movements in high quality animation,

Great to hear about a dedicated fan on this board. I wish they were more licensed products of the series.
