Kenshin doesn't need a reboot anime, its still getting two live action movies. This was announced even after he was convicted. The only time he spent in jail was during his arrest and trial. He was convicted and sentenced. He paid his fine, and is still working on the Hokkaido arc just fine. Japan doesn't care even if the west does. Shounen jump in the US did drop his series, but it had no effect on his work in Japan.

It doesnt need a reboot, up to the end of Kyoto arc. But as a huge fan of the 90's anime, I would love to see the third and final arc animated, for the sake of completion.
