The problem is that women are all buying shounen because they are into their male characters. Fujos or female otaku generally prefer stuff with male characters. Sure, normalfag women don't they want their "representation" but normalfag women don't buy manga in the first place.
Also, most shoujo series are pretty bad and even bad shounen have at least interesting and unique side characters or antagonists, whereas shoujo consists of the same three or four stereotypes.
