Art in manga is so simplistic compared to western comics...

Art in manga is so simplistic compared to western comics. It's not the coloring either but the fact that art in comics constantly evolves while manga is fairly stagnant. The paneling is even worse, manga with good art exist but they all suffer from self-imposed constraints whereas comics have very organic fields of view

It looks to me like people who draw comics are real artists, manga is created by amateurs

From my point of view western artist is lazy and weak

It's directly tied to productivity. Most mangaka, even those with monthly series, draw 5 to 10 times more pages than their Western equivalent. Moreover they have assistants of varrying talent while Western artists work alone or as tandem at best. The consequence is a simplified style.

I disagree with the paneling. I find manga to have better panling usually (by better i mean more effective/fit for purpose).

That face and nose, fucking westerns are a mistake.

>Ekhö
>Comic
You're dangerously close to lumping Franco Belgian BD and American comics together.

I stopped reading western webcomics because I was burned by the Lackadaisy Cats type that uploads one overpolished page twice a month and expects me to get invested for 30 seconds. Nips have the benefit of actually fucking working

Fuck, did Sky Doll ever finish?

Too bad the writing and stories in Western comics tend to be infantile garbage, OP pic related. I find maybe one worthwhile western comic to read a year, but have more decent manga to read than I can keep up with.

Euros do a fantastic job, but they have always loved manga so: NO.
Americucks are forever trapped in gurrl pawa teheee land so they suck ass, not for the art value but for the idiocy of apealing to non comic readers.

It's actually the opposite comic books are often stagnant in art and stick to a grid based panel structure
Though what you're talking about are BDs which are very high quality

I like metal hurlant stuff and sometimes modern french comics.

I really dont get it I thought after getting fuckloads in patreon money she'd start working on it full time but it's still coming out at the same rate as when she was a contractor. Which is a shame cause lackadaisy cats is one of the actually good webcomics in a sea of pure garbage

Not being a Japanophile, but logically speaking, the manga format is better for story telling. The choices to not use color for every page allows for faster production of the art and therefore for potentially more pages to devote to story telling (assuming the mangaka isn't a lazy ass).

This x100!

Moebius is based. Rest is cringe.

fuck off tranny

The whole thing is a living meme.
the author looks like the soijak and it's like the names were deliberately chosen as satire but they are real.

At some point they will probably encounter a villain called 'Racist' who wears the derogatory term as a badge of honour.

Imagine trying to argue that the Japanese haven't blown Americans the fuck out.

I thought this was a meme but it's legit. Holy kek

Lemme guess, they are both gay and have prefferd nouns.

ITT: Zig Forums seriously argues that quantity > quality.

Crazy, but I guess that's Gen Z for you.

Why does she look so ugly?

>western comics
>quality
The quality of OP's pic would not slide in jump

what you said is bullshit OP, there's as much BD/comics with bland art as there's manga with the same bland art.
meanwhile there's original artists everywhere, for manga i could say Dowman Sayman, Kotoyama, Kouji Kumeta and plenty others, you just haven't read enough manga.
and that's coming from a French who also read BD's.

also as some other anons stated before, you get 50 pages in average a year with BD's and with manga it's hundreds, i always wondered why, even though the western artists are paid much MUCH more than a mangaka.

>It's not the coloring either but the fact that art in comics constantly evolves while manga is fairly stagnant
So, you don't read manga. Good to know

wow

It's pretty simple. When western comic artists get paid more, they don't have to draw as much to earn a living. Japanese mangaka's with lower pay (I think it's a certain amount per page) have to draw much more to earn a living.

that looks like shit though unironicly (the back drop is great but then they just photo shopped some slut on top of it)

Japanese work culture. They literally work themselves to death.

They are different styles. In both styles, most are shit and some are outstanding. I see no need to proclaim which is superior, unless I'm willing to spend time analysing thousands of titles out there to objectively evaluate, which I'm not, and I haven't seen anyone doing it either. Call me when someone published a journal article on it.

I think I'm following this guy on deviantart. Great bimbo stuff. Could ease up on the horse dicks a little, though.

The japs are better by a mile, because they have an actual industry for it, and like two trillion people more in it. A western comic artist is like a member of the Zambian swim team.

BD's aren't always high quality, it's not because you use colors that your art isn't disgusting.
but that's beside the point, i'd say BD's and manga are pretty similar in evolution of art but manga is able to produce so many pages compared to BD's that it's not worth comparing.
BD's are still better if you want some eye candy (and again it depends of your taste, i prefer Kotoyama's or Dowman's art) and colors or maybe if you're trying to find good "western" comedy or good heroic fantasy (like Lanfeust de Troy) but if you want a long and complicated story telling, BD's can't provide that because they can't produce enough pages before their project become unpopular and before they stop.

there's few genres that Japanese can't do right though, heroic fantasy or even fantasy (excluding dark fantasy) or sci-fi in manga form never seem to work without including harems or comedy which is a shame.

>Western artists work alone or as tandem at best
But that's wrong, have you ever looked at the credits in an American comic book? There's like a dozen names listed.

western artists are paid more per page.
japanese artists are paid less per page (more for colored pages or double pages) BUT the big difference is that the japanese artist earn much more royalties the bigger their manga grows, so in the end if they keep working on their manga, they'll earn more.
western artists also earn royalties but since they work less and produce less, they earn less in the long term.

of course there's exceptions like those French mangaka (Radiant or Dreamland) who work nearly as much as Japanese and use assistants (and in case you're wondering, they work as much but they only release the entire volume at once because the pre-publication scene is dead in France).

>The japs are better by a mile, because they have an actual industry for it

French-Belgian BD's have an actual industry for it too and far bigger than the manga industry, idk where you're getting at.
